I have mainly new players in mind with this.
When an enemy (or friendly) terminates, allow their weapon to be salvaged for a brief time (10 seconds).
Frontline fits are now racially unique, which is great. But new players don't really get to branch out and try other things unless they spend ISK on militia variants, or AUR, or spend SP on new weapons they might not like.
Exchanging light weapons on the battlefield would give new players an opportunity to try out new things, and would also be an interesting dynamic if you run out of ammo.
Who cares what some sniper has to say

I have serious issues with this sort of thing, and it also ties in with another issue I have with vehicles. If I as a player have to grind SP and purchase the skills needed to equip and use a weapon, why should someone who has zero training in that weapon at all be able to magically operate it because they picked it off of my dead corpse? The same goes for hacked vehicles. If I had to train the SP to pilot and fit the vehicle, why should someone who has zero SP investment be able to pilot it simply because they hacked into it?

I like to think that the only reasom you can't pick up weapons is because they are nanite locked. Meaning your body's nanites need to match your gun's nanites in order to use it.
If you played MGS4 you would know what I mean.

I think part of this should be a thing... But only that if you recover the weapon or module from a corpse the game simply adds it to your salvage at the end of the match, Pokey is right just cus a new player picked up a proto gun doesn't mean he should be able to wield it.
Anyone getting annoyed by reading of the above post should consider the following.
I don't care so neither should you :)

Well it looks like they're pushing towards a "You salvage what you kill" sort of deal, so you could effectively pick up a proto gun if you kill the guy who has it, but you still need to train it in order to use it.
