Not a single word as to what most of CCP Shanghai is even working on since FanFest 2014?
Look, I get that people got mad about your Project Legion announcement. I get that a natural reaction to that kind of thing is often to clam up and avoid community contact until the storm blows over.
It's been a LONG time since then, CCP. Dust is now getting client updates again, and still we hear that only CCP Rattati and maybe a tiny token team is even working on Dust, but still we hear nothing about what you guys had an entire set of presentations on for your biggest press event of the year last year.
I think our investment of time and money into your company warrants us at least a small measure of feedback as to what your company is currently pursuing. Last I checked even the companies working under the infamous EA and Activision give occasional updates on the development of their games.
If this is a Marketing Firewall issue, you guys really need to look into how you're doing business.
Consider Warhammer 40K Eternal Crusade. Almost at the start of development they were live on Twitch every week for an hour showing broken, glitchy, and graphically unimpressive gameplay. However, this allows for you to look back over all their Twitch streams and watch the marked improvement of each of those areas as each week went by, and for the end of last year they even streamed a full 20v20 battle which was actually quite impressive. They obviously don't have a lot of money sunk into marketing compared to so called "AAA" games, but just letting people in on a regular basis is getting them a lot of devoted fans.
We're not a pack of angry rabid animals that just want to rip you to pieces and eat you alive. We may make a lot of angry posts, but that's because we don't like being treated like I just described. If you let us in, you'll find it benefits you in the long run.
Come on, CCP, time to open up a little.

Like I've said before it's unfortunate that New Eden with all these games as entry ways into it's universe is in the hands of CCP. I see, that would still suck, because I'm pretty sure they'll never be able to deliver on the original concept, even on the PS4 right now. This game is just way too ambitious. And like you said, in the future, the PS4 again will start holding them back. Its unfortunate that New Eden is in CCP's hands RIGHT NOW. But lets not forget that they're the ones that created it!! LOL. Random question, are you a believer in Star Citizen right now? Have you even heard about it? Or at-least are interested in it? Because as of right, its the only game out there thats giving me hope!! Ya lol I know they made New Eden but they just frustrate me indirectly with all the silence and failed promises. Yes I've heard plenty about Star Citizen and have seen plenty of it as well. So far have seen the combat in space ships and the first person shooter mode in stations. It looks cool, will have to at least get a better psu and graphics card for that eventually if I want to play Star Citizen. Won't be upgrading completely yet though till the game is officially released and got the official specs and plenty of views on the game. I'm waiting for the third starter ship before I pledge for it, but there's no way I would drop either EVE or Elite: Dangerous to devote all my time to it.
Let's also keep in mind that everything that was proposed for Dust is fully possible on the Playstation 4. In NO way would any of that need to be held back due to hardware constraints.
I mean, remember that M.A.G. supported 256 players through some smart level design and slick server code on the PS3, and the PS3 is quite inferior to the PS4 in terms of processing power. Given that the original stated player count for Dust 514 was 48 players, I can't see any way that that would be unnatainable on current generation consoles.

Given that the original stated player count for Dust 514 was 48 players, I can't see any way that that would be unnatainable on current generation consoles. I'm sure they can do a lot more in fact way more than they ever did with the ps3 but I still doubt they will be able to achieve their whole vision with the ps4. Because at some point they will get stuck cuz of the hardware no matter how good their programers now have with working on consoles. Will admit though that even though Dust514 has mostly been disappointing that minimal link with EVE is very good work. And that's what worries me about the little we've heard lately!
You know, the statements that EVE: Legion wouldn't have ANY link to EVE because trying to link the games at launch was a mistake? I'm not sure about you, but part of the only reason I cared about this game was because of watching that FanFest presentation where they called a strike down from EVE in a live match, and that's also what had so many media outlets looking at the game.
That link to EVE is one of the primary draws of Dust, and I think it's important to try and strengthen that. That's part of why I'm at least glad to hear there's a difference between personal and Corporation "WarBarges", but I hope they still keep the idea they talked about back at EVE Vegas of those being Orca-sized and pilotable by EVE players to give them more of a role in PC and encourage players of both games to cooperate.
As well, it's important to remember games like Grand Theft Auto 5 when it comes to large scale multiplayer. That game used a matchmaking system cleverly hidden in the open-world elements to allow an organic feel while still being manageable on the server side of things.
I've long been a proponent of the idea that it shouldn't be a single 32 or even 48 player battle to take a District in Dust. Imagine if you will having multiple "battle-zones" in a District that all require a 48 player battle and have a different value as far as flipping the District? That way, instead of being an exclusionary mode where your best 16 players do 1-2 matches and then the District is your's and locked for 24 hours, you could send your "A-team" to the really critical points while having other players in your Corp hold less essential objectives that still provide some form of bonus to the people taking the primary objectives.
That way, you keep total player count per match at 48, but you potentially have hundreds of players fighting for the same District. Massive scale made manageable.

You will see... Already been playing Planetside 2 on my PC..... I can't love Planetside 2.
I got burned out on it while it was trash for over a year and SOE seemed content to just keep putting in more paid "sidegrades" for all the guns.
The one saving grace CCP has as far as I'm concerned is that the only other game they've made was really good. SOE has ruined everything they ever made, even the games that started out good.
Case in point: BFRs in the Planetside.

da GAND wrote:Planetside 2 is alright but won't be keeping me occupied, plenty of other games to play till we get Legion (if it hasn't been cancelled) or Dust514 on the PC+PS4 (that's if they cancelled Legion though). I've been going over Rattati's Trello board of all his notes that he put up, and I'm seeing some things in there that I like.
I just wish we knew more than that.

Roy Xkillerz wrote:I am still hoping for more legion news on fanfest thats really the future to go. Within a 1 or 2 year most players have moved on to a ps4.
And I am not joking I have not booted up dust 514 since I seen legion footage thats the game I want to play and the more intensive eve link. I want to fly the war barge in eve attack planets hire mercs. Switch to a merc and bring my shiny tanks down. I seen a document how this all could work but why it does not get done? It was brijant.
If the screw ups are gonna by very major in the next 2 years then I will by leaving to star citizen + leave eve and many others will. We have all told plenty off times what we like to see then stop saying stuff you not gonna deliver thanks.
So I am talking about no legion for the ps4 and not for pc so basicly both games dead thats not what I want to see in the end also a big FPS fan. The part about the EVE link is incorrect.
Project Legion would launch with NO connection AT ALL with EVE Online. That was part of what they explained at FanFest when they first announced it.
The belief at CCP is that having Dust link with EVE was a mistake in the first place because it added needless complication and took work away from more important matters.
You know, completely glossing over the fact that the biggest contributor to the hype for the game and the one part of it that got THE MOST media attention was their demonstration of calling an orbital strike down from EVE in a live play session.
