Greetings.
First of all, a picture to show that I do have lvl 5 Optimization for the Combat Riffle. (There's no need to probe I have Assault minmatar to lvl 5 since I can make fittings with the suit) http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r498/1st_Luis/Dust%20514/DSC_1132_zpsqe6vga3x.jpg
A few days ago I decided to reach lvl 5 in Combat Riffle Optimization. The original purpose was to get 1 PG back from the 3 the Standard Combat Riffle uses in my Minmatar Logistics. But it still uses 3
3 * 0.25 = 0.75 (Which I assumed would be rounded at 1 and hence use only 2)
Keep in mind that even with optimization lvl 4 I reduced 1 PG to the advanced tier (4 * 0.2 = 0.8 Which IS roumded to 1)
Something similar happens with the same riffle but this time with the assault mk.0 http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r498/1st_Luis/Dust%20514/DSC_1131_zpscnbvcxfw.jpg
3 * 0.5 = 1.5 (Which only reduces 1, but not 2)
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Now, so far it's what I'd like, or how I thought it'd work. But here's the real problem (As no rounded is needed to probe it), there are some suits, because I took some time checking my fittings, where the bonus is not applied correctly.
The weapons I checked were: Boundless Combat Riffle - Uses 8 PG Luis' Modified Combat Riffle - Uses 8 PG as well.
Due the fact that I have optimization at lvl 5 and the Assault Minmatar at level five, the reduction should be of 50% total. So, previous mentioned weapons should use 4 PG. Well, this is NOT the case. Instead using 4 they use 5.
This is a minmatar mk.0 which adds 5PG to the suit, using the boundless CR (Passes from 80 to 85) http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r498/1st_Luis/Dust%20514/DSC_1130_zpser5c6x6a.jpg
Same story with the Luis' Modified CR (Passes from 80 to 85) http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r498/1st_Luis/Dust%20514/DSC_1129_zpsrsptrjtg.jpg
Now, using a minmatar m-1 with the Boundless CR it's the same deal (Passes from 36 to 41): http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r498/1st_Luis/Dust%20514/DSC_1133_zpsj5mnvq7x.jpg This one is only for showing purposes, as I wouldn't fit a proto weapon in this basic suit
Summarizing, with the proto/Officer weapons there is a problem with how the reduction is calculated. Standard... I wish the standard could use 2 with lvl 5 Optimization. Keep in mind this is only for a logistics in which I wanna fit a Standard CR, not a suit which will be all powerful. ATM I can use the advance tier, since it use the same amount of PG.
Thanks in advanced.

The above is if you had a 75% reduction which would bring it to 0.75, which would then round to 1.
However, it could be that you are finding 25% of 3, which is indeed 0.75. However you need to take it one step further:
3 - 0.75 (which is the 25% you found) = 2.25
Another way you could have done it in one step is simply subtract 25% in your head from 100%. This gives you 75%.
3 * 0.75 = 2.25
In any case, the lowest you can get with Combat Rifle Fitting Optimization with that specific weapon of 3 PG would only bring it down to 2 PG.
Unfortunately, the 5 PG is correct due to how CCP calculates the bonus specifically for Operations, Fitting Optimizations, and the Assault bonus.
First we have the base: 8 PG.
Then we take Fitting Optimization (25%) off that: 8 * 0.75 = 6.
Then we take the Assault suit bonus (25%) off that: 6 * 0.75 = 4.5.
We round to the nearest whole number: 4.5 -> 5.
And thus the result of 5.
This can be seen with CPU as well. Take the Boundless Combat Rifle again: 81 CPU.
First we take off Operation (15%): 81 * 0.85 = 68.85.
Then we take off the Assault Suit bonus (25%): 68.85 * 0.75 = 51.6375.
Round: 51.6375 -> 52.

LOL!
I'm talnking about reduction The skill talks about PG reduction
At the end, different ways of attacking the same problem The weapon use 3PG The 25% of 3 is 0.75
3-0.75= 2.25 Wait... That number seems familiar... Isn't that the same you mentioned? Wait, it is the same!!!!
I'm not attacking the problem from the 'whats left' point of view, but from the reduction, as it's implied in the text.
Edit: oh, and just to make it clear. Even with lvl 5 optimization, the standard DOES NOT use 2, it still uses 3
The standard passed from 3 to... Yeah, 3 Advanced from 4 to 3 Proto/Officer from 8 to 6 |

Why the sarcasm? I'm not sure why you wrote that in your post.
All I was doing was pointing out what I saw and attempted to help in your post.
Anyways, there is another similar thread about Minmatar Assault CPU. And yes, even though the thread is CPU, not PG problems like what you are having, but it might be related somehow.
Again, I don't understand why you have to be so nasty to someone trying to point something to you and provide some feedback. Save it for General Discussions or the War Room. I think both of us will benefit if we try to figure out and nail the bug down rather than mock the feedback you received.
Moving on from that, if you want the exact formula from a trusted source, check my signature; one of the links brings you to a place to file a Help Ticket.

I apologize But the thing is this is not working as it should, or that's what I'd assume
Will modify if you feel better about it

well, the "reduction" is simply a multiplication of percentages...
the formula would be PG * 0.75 * 0.75. in your case 8 * 0.75 * 0.75 => 4.5
rounding is done after complete fit is added together, not seperately for each module, thus if you can actually save a point of PG depends on the rest of your fitting.

not exactly, according to the answer I got in a help ticket, the CPU issue is just a bug with rounding with AVAILABLE CPU not of required CPU. |
