Since Caldari Prime event, we are waiting for an event that could told us a story. I would really like to have a very simple series of events, which will take place during the weekend (generally people have more time to play).
The setup of the event is rather simple, 2 different factions or corps want a [planet, district] and mercs are hired to fight for them. At the end of the weekend the event will be over and the faction with more victories win and the story will evolve depending on the faction who won.
Prizes should be partecipatory, but also tied to the win of the faction. One may choose to lock faction and be loyal and receive better prizes if that faction win or be a freelance and receive only partecipatory prizes. This will lead to 3 different prizes: 1 partecipatory, 1 loyality weekend and 1 loyality end of event.
If the series is succesful, to increase the size of the event, there can be some EVE integration with a beacon to control like in FW, basically a parallel event for EVE.
It would be very nice to have a story to follow week after week and be the ones who write it.

My only question is this:
Could these be done in such a way that we'd be shifting Empire Sov in Eve?
Nothing drastic, baby steps that might eventually shift control of a system in high-sec?

Doubt it.
Too much work and frankly no reason why we deserve to have any ability to do this.
HIgh-Sec is space designated as of course High Security by CONCORD and the associated Empires/Factions that manage them. Regulation of the status quo is pretty much mandatory for these guys.

Doubt it,the only real story we have is," Merc travel to the sky on something, something stolen Warbages". Rattati is still on that though.

Hey last year I would have been on your side.....still its not going to happen. Honestly think how immersion breaking it would be to log in in Rens or Matar to suddenly find that a bunch of Dusters had flipped the home system of your empire and you are now being attacked by their navy as you try to trade, duel, move around, etc.
Then think how this came to pass given that such systems have billions of empire citizens and hundreds of thousands of Empire Soldiers.......

IDK, I kinda pictured it being immediately adjacent to the FW warzones. Think current warzone mechanics though about x50 harder and only available while your faction held the warzone system immediately adjacent to the high-sec you were flipping.
I mean, the Militias are supposed to be the militant extremists for their faction. I'd love to see if that erupted into a fullblown "**** You CONCORD, you can't tell us what to do anymore" war.

I was talking about factions, but it can be corps. Protagonists may vary, but the important is to have a story, well written and with suspense.

They aren't even remotely militant extremists.
Militia's are the legally appointed proxy organisations that the CWMPA allows to fight in the systems of low sec space wherein FW takes place. Corporation are appointed as privateers of a sort to engage in the Empire conflicts as CONCORD prevents them from doing it elsewhere.
The other point to make is that our entire operational premised relies on us having employers to purchase biomass/clones for our use. It's not good business to **** with CONCORD or the Empires and thus most people won't employ us for actions like this.
