It says it does splash damage, 285 in fact. But when someone with 10 armor left kills me because the Plasma round I fired at their feet didn't kill them, something needs looking at.

Especially when it says blast radius is 3.5m, and no, the guy didn't jump.

Meters are not meters, from what i've understood dust meters are feets (or whatever strange mesaure americans use).
Also clones should be from 2 to 3 meters tall or generally bigger than normal humans.

Splash Damage hit detection has always been a bit borked in DUST, back when MassDrivers were introduced it was painfully obvious, it used to be a lot worse.

I cant remember, do we use a diminishing splash model, where the splash is less at the edges of range, or is it static?

Splash is unreliable and usually won't even kill scouts. Aim for the chest

Like I said, it was directly between his feet. Even in INCHES it should of killed him. It's this reason why I don't use the Breach Mass Driver. Don't trust it to hit anything!

Splash in DUST has always been weird.

 Option 1:
 >Misses by 10 meters
 >Deals full damage

 Option 2:
 >Hits right under the persons feet
 >Deals 1 damage and makes the person go "ouchy"

the problem with splash damage not registering has been here since forever.

even a single uneven spot in terrain can block the whole damage. I had people standing on top of RE taking no damage from them many many times...

Flaylock works pretty well for some reason, but Plasma Cannon and any MD other than Assault have never worked properly.

 Flaylock has THE SAME issue.

I noticed that all explosives weapon's splash damages will work "as intended" when you are in higher ground than the guy you're shooting at. It's not because it's easier to shoot someone this way, but because it seems like the splash damage are registered 100% of the time only this way.

I played a lot with the flaylock recently (core + prof 3), and hit detection failed me more than once..

 Agreed.

I have not played the game in months - just popped in to see what's new on forums. One of the frustrating things that made me give up playing was PLC. I loved the concept of the weapon and loved when weapon actually worked the way it was supposed to but it's waaay bugged. PLC definitely has problems with splash damage - a.) it does not register at all and b.) sometimes it registered only for a fraction of what it was supposed to deal.

PLC, NK, Scout - before 1.8.
That's right, I stack that OP Sh!t. |
