Is this a hardware problem? What causes the FPS to drop so drastically?

I've seen some crazy knifers attack full squads head-on, sprint jumping from one enemy to the next like fleas, landing killshots with every swipe.

He even gave me one of my biggest laughs as he became a starfish that spun around twice into the sky after being shot by a rail tank. Gotta love them ragdolls.

I got the first iteration of the PS3 slim and I have tons of **** on it, never tidy it up, never clean the PS3 itself and dust runs perfect 99.99% of the time, Ive only installed the game once way back when we last HAD to reinstall it
