Question: How many of you guys actually still use cloaks? Ive slowly but steadily moved towards getting rid of the cloak on my scouts recently and i actually feel my gameplay is more fluid without it. I run proto damps and and i seem to do fine, if not better without the cloak. Anyone else feel the same? |

Yes.
After the delay and reduction of passive scans, I found them to be more trouble than they are worth. It is especially bad when you are spotted while cloaked, because even though the enemy can now see you, identify your position, and attack, you now have a delay that you have to survive in order to retaliate. And more likely than not, if you were using the cloak, you were in an open area to begin with.
Not to mention its high fitting cost with relation to those circumstances. I just find it more trouble than it is worth over all.

I found them to be annoying to use even when first introduced except for moving from point to point.

I still use them, but mainly to traverse open areas where I'm more exposed and more likely to run into other scouts that I like to avoid. It's mainly designed for infiltration and escape so I keep it to just that.

The nullification of passive scans while cloaked has been the biggest hit on that front. |

Depends on the map. But at the end of the day damps are more important then being invisible with a red arrow above your head. |

I personally use both. And I really enjoy this gameplay (I must say, the cloack nerfing is really good).
You just have to be in a city map.
Use cloak to travel (on the roads) or to hack. Don't use the cloak when you're in a close sector, because cloak/decloak takes so much time when you might have to kill people. And be or not be cloaked, that's the same near of ennemies. So keep decloaking to be abble to kill people directly.
Ho and an other thing I love with this cloak : scouts who are cloaked, but you aren't, and the time they use to decloak, you can kill them
I'm sorry for my bad English writting and comprehension.

I only have a cloak on my PC flanking/uplink suit now. All the rest of my scout fits are cloak free.
The change in passive scans while cloaked didn't really effect my play style, however, the uncloak delay is a total ***** now.

Cloak is still extremely useful even if it is no longer as powerful as it was when it was first released (this is a good thing). The extra dampening is great as well as the invisibility itself. I use Caldari Scout so throwing in two complex damps comes pretty naturally but I still see the cloak as more useful than a second piece of equipment. This might also be to the fact that I use Prototype Uplinks with my Scout and am at the cap of bandwidth.
Still, Cloak is good enough as is to use and considering the Scout bonus as well as the fact that the extra equipment slot was added to use the Cloak, I find it silly to not use it.

I use it where Ive always used it, on swarm and sniper fits to help keep me under the radar and hidden from enemy infantry.

It's very restrictive in [i][u]aspect[u[b][i] of it.
You're "invisible," but if you move people will see you.
You get a bonus to dampening so people won't see you, but your passive scans wont' let you know where to avoid getting caught.
You have an extra equipment slot that you can fit a cloak with, but it takes a butt-load of cpu/pg.
According to the community, scouts shouldn't wear cloaks, but the scouts get a 75%, and are the only ones that can use it efficiently...
It's all very contradictory, I mean yeah "it's not a combat cloak," but it's the most useless piece of equipment on the market at this point, every other piece of equipment gives the users some kind of clear and obvious advantage. The cloak gives you kind of an advantage sometimes...

On a few of my fits. I like the sound reduction but the sound reduction gets me killed in PC so i only use it mainly in PUBS & FW.
But i do like peeking around a corner without being shot to see how many reds are guarding a point.

Yes, using damps is way better in almost every place, it doesn't limit ur vision as cloacks, and most important u don't have any delay.. Lol
I hate cloacks since the nerf, at least to my game play they are useless, sometimes just to mess around, but a good purpose... To me there isn't. Not even to run in the outside. I always see those cloacky guys trying to run behind one... Lol

Only on my Gk.0 since I have no other use for my second equipment slot. I would use it for more remotes, but I don't wanna. |
