So far I have not driven anything but the LAV, but I drove it quite a bit last night. IMO the controls of it are awful, do the tanks have similar controls? The one button driving doesn't work, it is unintuitive and slightly archaic. It's hard to turn accurately when you're holding up on the control pad. Maybe it's because I am used BF3 and some racing games, but I want a gas and break/reverse button. One of the R buttons should be gas, not forward on the analog stick. Make one of the L triggers break.
Do you guys agree or do you like the one analog controlling of vehicles? |

I agree with you, the LAV controls are terrible. Please give us a gas and a reverse button |

Holy crap, I agree. At the very least, they need to make one axis control gas/break, and the other control direction. |

I have to give this a +1 too, im not sure how difficult it could be to implement this late, but a bf3 style driving system (R2 for go and L2 for brake/reverse) is far more efficient, easy to use and familiar for 90% of gamers.
Also the one stick system makes driving and shooting (in the case of HAV's) nigh on impossible, it makes everyone looks like they are drunk driving!! lol |

Gotta agree with this. The vehicle itself is currently incredibly awkward to control. A more traditional control scheme for the LAV would be a wiser way to go. |

I agree, I hate the control scheme. I'm assuming it's the same for all vehicles, which must be a nightmare in aircraft.
I've always liked Halo's vehicle control scheme. If you're in control of a turret, it points where you look. If you're also in control of your vehicle, you can move it in relation to where you are looking. I.E. move control stick left, vehicle goes left. None of this move control stick left, vehicle goes straight because you were looking sideways crap. |

Agreed, it is damn near impossibru to get around, especially without flipping yourself -.- Am I the only one having problems when trying to turn too hard because you missed it the first time, and ending up going a mile on 2 wheels and not being able to do a thing about it? |

Also I would love to be able to look back - right now you can only rotate camera enough to look sideways - i want to be albe to look back, either by rotating cam or by having "look back" button |

I AGREE, SUPPORT this, we need a break, gas, independed of steering, so we can corner better, and kick it in reverse without taking all dame day. As for looking back, and around, it would be better if the focus wasn't centered on the lav as much, like in GTA IV when you hit the look around in a car button, it switches cameras RATHER than simply rotating on a fixed axis around the vehicle. THAT would be better, because you're scanning for targets in this game, not ship spinning just for the eye candy. |

Seems fine to me, but I dont drive it too often. Its simple, enough to control and allows other stick and buttons to be left free for other use, if there will be something to use them for. |

It's not terrible, but I wouldn't be opposed to new controls either.
The only thing that really bothers me is the camera. Make it so the camera doesn't automatically snap to front view. it makes it ridiculously hard to follow/pursue someone when your camera is flying all over the place. |

I found that once I stopped using the right stick to pre-empt turns with the left stick the LAV became 'easier' to drive.
The right stick is massively over sensitive in an LAV (don't know about the other vehicles) and leads you to oversteer with the left stick when trying to make turns.
I'm not saying it doesn't need addressing, but what actually might need addressing is the right stick sensitivity and not the steering controls. |

I agree. The LAV controls, just as most of the other controls (aiming, grenade throw, sprinting) feel extremely clunky. |

Agreed also vehicle animation and realism a bit lacking. Have been trying to actively roll a vehicle all night without success from all angles, inclines and embankments; surely if you get it wrong and ride up a hill at a ludicrous angle you'd think you're vehicle would roll or on you, land on its side or even turn turtle rendering it no longer usable or activley throwing you from it? |

+1 for separate steering and accel/decel controls.
symmetric dropship controls would be nice too (ie. L1/R1 or L2/R2 for Up/Down instead of L1/L2) |

Hey guys,
Vehicle handling has been greatly improved in our internal builds, driving vehicles around should feel a lot better once the next update hits.
Different vehicle control mapping is on the roadmap, but it will not be in the next update. I can't give any promises on this front right now :) |

Not quite handling, but I had an issue where the drop ship dropped my LAV onto the supply depot, and it flipped over. I didn't see a "flip button" to right-side up my vehicle. I've also had horrible luck with inclines, and trying to use the tanks to shoot at the MCC, I had to park sideways on a sand-dune. (and with current controls, that took several minutes)
I'm not sure where it fits, but trying to run someone over with the LAV is horrific too. I ran over two guys, one died, the other bounced. Shoved another guy all the way through the base and out the other side. |

LAV is bad to control
The HAV is even worse it will just not respond
The dropship is the best one out of the 3 tbh
Its all because the left analog is used to acc and direction
direction should be left analog but acc should be L2/R2 |

Eventually i think they should let you pick your own controls for everything, just like you can chose all your own short cuts in eve... know that's a stretch but a few layouts would be nice. |

keep in mind that their should be a good driving setup that allows the user to keep moving WHILE accessing modules while some ppl want R2/L2 to drive like other games i dont think they also realise u can activate modules
having to sit still for a few secs to activate modules can get u killed, the current setup is good in theory but needs alot of tweaking
also add an option to lock your vehicle out from ppl. ppl shouldnt hav to pay 100K+ for a pimped out tank to have some random run off with it imo
corp battles that wont be a problem but for the random matches having an option to lock your vehicles would be nice |

I must say, that in EVE, if you leave your ship in space, and someone happens along, they can just hop in and steal it. Then again, we don't have to get out of our ships to take objectives / restock, or save an objective from flipping.
I also have had vehicles "drive off" under those same terms, luckily it was just a LAV. |

I'm pretty sure sand, and sandy-dirt surfaces are meant to make you slow down/stick to the surface, rather than slide about like your trying to drive on an ice lake.
I'm pretty sure O or (square) are break? Cant remember but my other half was like "Can you honk the horn!?!" so i hit every button on the keypad, fell out of the vehicle doing so, but there was no horn, and im pretty damn sure one of those keys was break as it did something! (i think?)
and yes yes, NDA... you try hiding a 42" screen in the lounge room from your partner. He understands he's not to talk about it, and tbh he doesnt seem that interested as i think of dust as "just another battlefield clone, meh"

I agree with most of these posts, one of the things that could make it better would be to make the camera less sensitive when in a vehicle. it flys all over the place. |

Its good to hear that the DEVS will implement a different driving control. The feeling while driving would be much better than it is right now. I hope there will be another flight control pattern too. Leftstick for YAW would be great DEV.
