I read Ratatti's thread for HAV suggestions and wanted someone to start a thread for names and whatnot. So here goes. I tried to follow the naming schemes set forth by eve online. I didn't quite understand the naming schemes for dust 514.
Amarr progression:
thinking of Roman and religious terms here I though we could have the level of rank be represented as how one would determine the battle like "he who judges the battle" kind of thing.
Standard: Praetor
Advanced: Arbitrator
Prototype: Judicator
Caldari Progression:
I don't know where the word Gunnlogi comes from. But I do know that the Caldari follow a bird themes when it comes to naming their vehicles. So I thought to myself what would be some good names of birds that are ground bound? Most of the birds that I thought about should be instead used for LAVs but I figured I would submit my thoughts anyway:
Standard: Quail
Advanced: Emu
Prototype: Ostritch
Maybe road runner for Lavs lol
Minmitar Progression: I had the most fun with this one because in eve online all ships are named after blades for the Minmitar faction. I was trying to think of punching blades or off hand blades used to cut through thick jungle, in essence, extreme close have to hand combat or jungle cutting
Standard: Shiv
Advanced: Katar or shank
Prototype: Machette
Gallente Progression: I'm at a loss for the naming schemes of the Gallente. After doing some browsing I found that Gallente ships were named after pantheon and mythological beasts. So here's what I came up with.
Standard: Veritas - Goddess of virtue and truth
Advanced: Felicitas - Goddess of Success and luck.
Prototype: Libertas - Goddess of freedom in Roman culture. And the Gallente are all about freedom. What beget way to liberate a city than with a tank that has a name like that?
If at all possible I'd like to write the italicized description of lore reference that you see in some of the ships. Tell me what you guys think?

None of those are in use as far as I can tell.
Btw why do you assume the Amarr are Roman?

Executor, arbiter. I guess they are more holy crusader types. They also have dragoons I think.. I was also aiming for a Roman army feel with the Amarr cavalry in dust 514

Going with the hand weapons theme so far on cal HAV choosing for a Japanese names, though the caldari HAV names so far have been European and west Asian in origin

^Put it in the hav taxonomy thread. You could also add yari, naginata and kanabo.
