been off and on with dust for a bit but AV no longer seems like its worth the effort.
maybe its down to shield vehicles not giving out WP until you hit the Armour, or python piliots jumping just before that last hit so no WP for killing it IDK. maybe i am playing dom too much so there is always a corner not far away so the tank or LAV need not worry about that one person who happens to actually be bothered to fight it.
AV is not cheap and tbh i am douting if its even worth the effort anymore isk/risk vs reward wise. anyone feeling this way? |

AV is just as effective when you drive them away. If you kill them, great. If you make them run away, more time for you to fight infantry and let him regen to come back to more swarms and forges. If you say that AV is not worth taking out then you deserved to be slaughtered by them if you aren't going to try. You could even use militia antiarmor fits to try to scare them away. The sight of swarms of any sort causes dropships and tanks to consider their risks. Even better, land a kill with a Wiriyikomi early in the game to ensure no one brings out anymore vehicles.

I'm just now speccing into the forge gun and plasma cannon. I find forge sniping infantry to be highly rewarding. It takes practice but its fun! |

you miss understand my cheapest AV is 53k and i do alot of it and kill alot of tanks drop ships LAV's ect.

Ok... Make a cheap, cheap fit. One to purely make them run. If you want to blow them up, find a friend. Get 8 missiles on him right away and try to launch another batch. Up to you to risk your fits. If you are concerned with ISK, make a cheap fit like STD Swarms, STD AV nade, STD ACR or CR, and maybe an enhanced or complex DMG mod. Fill the rest to your liking. Whatever the case, that fit will make most DS or tankers consider attacking the point again or anyone. If you don't kill them, they don't know what tier you have, or anything else. Keep it a mystery. Just hurt him enough to scare him away and recall their vehicle. You don't know how many LAV's, tanks, and dropships I've kept away by camping midway through the map between the point and the MCC. Sit there with a Anti-Armor fit or something little more advanced. Fire swarms at passing vehicles. You can even intrigue a tanker to come and kill you aside from killing your friends. If not, try to blow him. Remember, the goal is to at least get them away from your teammates, not go for the kill. Don't chase after him. Let him go. He will come back if he's dumb or confident he will get past you, in which you set traps with av nades and remotes
Keep a nanohive, and you'll be alright.

well for me keeping them away is one thing.....but unless its armor tanked the rewards for simply keeping them away are minimal to non existent.
for shield based vehicles you need to get into the armor to even get a +75 when realistically you can make alot more WP simply forgetting all about them. drop ships seem temperamental as to what they give, i just killed a python and had 4 lots of proto swarms hit it, the guy bailed before the last bit of armor got hit and i got not 1 single WP.
A well fit gunnlogi really needs to be hunted with RE and proto AV nades if its on a dom or you can forget getting any WP's off it. yet alone a kill.
did i say how great proxies are......some vechiles will run over 3 or 4 and give you no WP's ......the only thing they are really going to kill are sheild based LAV's, with bandwidth restrictions i don't think you could put 9 out if you had a set of proto and advanced with a nanohive on a logi.
there are lots of roles you can do for your team....... solo AV seems the least rewarding WP wise and the highest risk isk wise.
i have about 210 mil isk...... money is not the issue risk vs reward is.

Well, if you went into AV for the WP, then you're doing it wrong. Yeah, WP is nice to have, and helps get orbitals, but AV is for the team. If you want to save your team, do it. If you want WP, go get a gang of six guys with proto swarms, PLC, and forges to go romp the enemy vehicles. If not, then just don't do it. The reward for keeping tanks away is great. Less deaths for your team when a tank keeps on leaving with no kills. Shield based vehicles, again, keeping them away means less deaths for you. If you swarm a dropship away from friendlies or rooftops you can save the entire game. One landing on a key rooftop can end the game for your team. You keep them away, you win the vehicle battle. Destroying them is just a bigger hit because ISK. If you were tanking or ADS'ing, if you kept on getting pushed out of the battle zone because of this pesky swarmer who keeps on bothering you, then you don't do anything successful to your team.

A major problem is the fact that rail tanks are so superior to any sort of AV weaponry. I have proto swarms and forges but, unless I'm close to a supply depot or place of cover, there's no reason NOT to bring out my particle cannon. You can wipe out average and scrub pilots/tankers with little problem and take out good pilots/tankers if they don't activate their shields in time; with forges/swarms, you can take out poor pilots/tankers, force decent ones to retreat, or get killed by a skilled pilot/tanker that knows how to avoid/tank incoming damage.

Lol, no sh*t. They get the ability to three shot solo a tank or ADS and still whine because they don't get a kill. So, tanks and ADS really aren't the problem GÇô only console kiddies wanting their leaderboard kills.

It's the plague and how people would agree then to check these same people and correct them before this even festers into a problem .
The forums dictate how this game goes from whoever posts that something is OP and you see the mad rush to copy , to the people complaining about things that are not issues and ignoring the " real issues " , like lag , hit detection , lack of player retention / matchmaking and the slow death of the solo player by implementing mechanics that hurt them and profit squads who already have the manned advantage .
AV is worth the effort if people would stop complaining and allow people to play the game the way they want to and not how it's dictated by forum warriors .
Doubts are like flies and should be treated as such and crushed .

This costs less than the price of one proto swarm, and just as effective. Even with proto, a tank or ads does not go boom until the 4th or more swarm. Save isk and do not use proto. If you want to use light weapon modifiers, go with advanced too.
