Your in my corp but
**** YOU. My squad in YAMAH will put up a fight. And my suit of choice is the commando. They are an absolutely unique suit that can be built to have no more than two seconds of downtown between firefights with support. They can out dps anything in a sustained firefight besides a ******* tank.
I'm leaving yamah because of your ignorance.

What if commandos got a slight bonus to the inherent regen and tank of their suit ?They would be the kings of suppression by having decent hp and regen with good dps and little downtime. They would still be very vulnerable to high alpha such as hmg, sniper, and shotguns. They would not have the mobility of assaults, hp of sentinels, or regen of scouts but they would be somewhere in between. The proposed skill bonus would be similar to sentinels, but geared toward the conventional regen / tank of said race.
For example. Amarr-plus 3% to armor and 2% armor repair Gallente-plus 3% to armor repair and 2% to armor Caldari- plus 3% shield regen and 2% delay reduction And vice versa
From my experience , I feel the slight bonuses would help promote the suppressive fighter playstyle that is the commando. Although this may not seem underwhelming , if the suits are used with these bonuses in mind, a commando can become a much better flanker and general fire support without the need to hide for long times if used in conjunction with the modules best suited for said race.
Since commandos aren't as armored as heavies, or as versatile as assaults with all their modules, or as fast and ewar capable as scouts I think regen seems to be a good niche for commandos. Not ewar or speed or tank. Just regen.
