Harmless brainstorming. I mean, what we have now is chat channels and factional orbitals. Wippee.

Eve forum excerpt
"I was looking around for some Blueprints on an industrial alt and I came across some tactical Hyrid charges. I was told that they are used to aid Dust players in their matches. I don't really know much about Dust. I remember back when Planetary interactions was introduced that Dust players were going to be used as Mercenaries to fight over the PI stuff. I've not seen any kind of interface for that though.
How are the two games linked? How would I even used a tactical charge to bombard a Dust site? What benefit does Dust give to Eve players?"
First question, by orbital bombardments and chat channels Second question, in factional warfare a Dust player orders the orbital strike while the Eve pilot hovers above the district Third question... nothing.. dust killmails the single exception I suppose
It would be nice if there were a forum where Dust and Eve players could communicate.

Contextual Gameplay
I've been stewing for a long time about how I always wished you actually felt like a star faring intergalactic mercenary and how surely it's pointless for all this conflict to be happening all over the cluster at the same time since there is no way to cover it or make it seem like the evens of your battles mean something.
As such one of the ideas was that the Dust 514 and EVE online NeoCom screens share a small "Breaking News" bar much like you see on New Networks which flashes players teasers of contextual information and New Eden content.
This information could include
- Alliance Tournament Results - Major Battles of EVE pilots - Random Superfluous Lore tid bits - Event Teasers - And Contextual Information about Public Contracts and Special Contracts
It's certainly not direct interconnectivity but it does represent that Dust and EVE are on the same shard. The events that happen there are ones we'll hear about and see footage/ news updates about, etc.
However this hasn't covered the contextual aspect of Dust Gameplay. I'd love to see events that occur as a result of these contextual new updates occur and define the public battles we fight across.
Example 1 - Players has just had this model implemented and for a two week period they are seeing news updates about Roden Shipyard has recently acquired Terrestrial Mineral Mining rights in the Intaki System of the Placid Region both but that the Intaki Syndicate is contesting those rights.
A couple of days after that players will hear about a a Roden Shipyards Mining Colony that was sabotaged and Destroyed.
When players now deploy to Public Contracts all contracts will for the duration of this "Alert" or "Flash Point" be set between Roden Shipyards and the Intaki Syndicate. These "Flash Point's" can last as long as CCP wants them to and can adapt according to the plot of the "Flash Point" culminating in something I am sure groups of EVE side players would want to get involved in.
Example 2- The initial News reports are stating that after the destruction of the Mining Facility the civil disobedience has spread across the districts where Roden Shipyads has established its Mining Facilities seeing more and more incidences of Sabotage, Corporate Theft, and the increased presence of Mercenary Warbarges in the area.
A week after we as players have been deploying to these "Flash Points" we see another update where the Intaki Syndicate is openly critiquing Roden Shipyards and visa versa both offering increased ISK pay out over the course of a week. Resulting in a tangible in game effect for us as players. These effects could result in the use of the "Special Contracts" tab with specific rules or variation graphically or otherwise for us as players.
The week after that depending on who has won the most battles we will receive a new update about the current state of things. If the Intaki are winning
"Roden Shipyards suffering from a sudden drop in stock prices as investors pull funding from the Placid Mining Project"
or
"Despite hindrances to the proposed acquisition of the Placid Mining Rights Roden Shipyards has pacified the region and is instituting and economic programme to aid dislodged Intaki Residents"
In this respect there is very little actual work for CCP to do, to my meagre understanding, other that set the factions of a predetermined length of time and occasionally update the the news tag lines that run across out NeoCom units.
So if I were to boot up Dust 514 right now I could hop on. Look at the News Headlines and see that
-Intaki IV is experiencing the above civil dispute -Joe Bloggs has won the Mindclash Inter Empire Championship -Another Big Titan Fight happened -The Minmatar took Arzad -That the Ardishapur Family are having issue with the Equilibrium of Mankind
From there when I sign up to a Public Contract I am either assigned to the Intaki Syndicate or Roden Shipyards until the "Flash Point" has ended.
After the "Flash Point" ends I can see teasers indicating that soon the two new factions might be the Ardishapur Family and the Equilibrium of Mankind with their own modifiers and short compact....and most likely scripted plot.
Variations that could affect these game mode could be
Locality - Battles set on a specific planet or in a specific system Battle Payouts- Sometimes they might be increased, decreased, pay out with more salvage, rarer salvage, less ISK,or less Salvage, etc Moods- Perhaps you are fighting on a Desert Planet or an Ice Planet, or perhaps the EoM has dropped Insorium over the planet resulting in Toxic or Misty Moods.
Etc
Something that could give matches context. Those who don't care about lore shouldn't mind and those who do, or like special rewards, special contracts, etc might really enjoy the new content.

I think it would be sweet if our gear was made at EVE factories who are supplied with raw matierals mined in EVE. Additionally, EVE engineers should be able to design gear and provide new product offerings. Mercenaries would bid on gear. There would be an unlimited supply of MLT items in the case that EVE factories were unable to meet our production demands. |

Would the gear that's bidded on be officer type?

Something to consider as well, not many eve players want interaction. Some do don't get me wrong, last I knew there was a lot of animosity from eve players in general towrds dust514. If things are changed then some one correct me. I want more interaction between the games its crazy feeling calling in an OB from Eve.
Hello? any one there?

Eve players in FW get LPs as well for every Dust merc they kill. On top of that, the amount of effort required to put a system into a contested state can be affected by the FW battle on the ground.
For example:
Say I'm a FW pilot in Eve fighting for the Minmatar and I head over to Amamake to join my Minmatar buddies who are fighting on a District in that system. I get some merc kills with a bombardment and I get LP for helping them out. Apparently the Minmatar Dust players lost the battle to the Amarr and thus the Amarr have control of the District. The number of points needed to put the system of Amamake into a contested state reduces which makes it easier for the Amarr in Eve Online and harder for us Minmatar.
But FW seems to be the extent of it all. Beyond that, there appears to be no additional impact on Eve Online except for PC Districts which -- if I recall correctly -- has an impact on the neighboring control tower operations in Eve assuming the control tower is anchored by the moon orbiting the planet that has the district in question. But even then, I heard the impact is negligible at best.
Dust players can join Eve corps and vise versa.
So far, that's it.
Planetary Interaction was originally planned to incorporate Dust into it where Dust players can either protect or attack Eve-run colonies on behalf of player-run corporations. But the Jita Riots of 2011 happened which resulted in CCP being forced by the players to change their priorities to focus more on fixing the problems in Eve Online and less on Dust. Mainly due to over 1,000 players letting their subscriptions lapse a month later which greatly impacted CCP financially. Yes, you can blame players like me for this. I was among those in Eve who protested as well back in 2011.
Moving on, I was thinking perhaps that in one year or so, I'm hoping to see Dust finally have an impact on Planetary Interaction. Assuming CCP ever decides to revisit that old concept they brought up. Here is a glimpse on how PI works in Eve Online for those of you who don't know.

The planets I have colonies on which I'm currently using to create Nanite Repair Pastes. Color coded for easy reading. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1YRQ-SwYweeyjSFHaWup_r8ZMGahXGahco7Mwe0DSkGI/edit?usp=sharing
Reference http://eveplanets.com/
Nanite Repair Pastes are used in Eve Online for repairing damaged modules while in space when you don't have access to a nearby station to do normal repairs. Planets happen to be the ONLY sources for materials needed to produce these things. The same goes for control towers and customs offices. In other words, PI is closely tied to our economy. Imagine the impact a Dust merc can have on Eve if they are ever allowed to defend or attack an Eve-run colony.

The two reasons I started playing Dust
1 You were supposed to be able to make stuff: At least thats coming soon 2 Inter-connectivity with Eve , even though I had and still have no idea what Eve is or care to play it: I think this is minimal at best and hardly noticeable, we keep fighting in the same sockets every match. I thought after you captured it you should defend. ( The Skirmish 1.0 seems like a wonderful idea)
And lets not forget, I am a miser, free to play is always tempting.
I do honestly feel cheated

I think the most important thing in regards to DUST, and this applies to whatever the hell Legion is going to be and Valkyrie, is that it cannot, should not, must not be as big and lengthy as EVE. I think DUST/Legion works better in shorter time periods. The best thing I took away from FanFest 2014, aside from watching Rouge kill everything we love so much (I even paid for the HD stream so the kick in the groin was in 1080p), was the time amounts that CCP was planning for each person to play their games. Valkyrie was meant for like 45-90 minutes, Legion/DUST 1-4 hours, and EVE sessions being that big monster that it is.
For EVE-DUST/Legion connectivity, I still want the game to be arcade-like. It is one of the reasons why PC is so unpopular in my opinion; no one is going to set their alarm clocks for a game like this.

I think that a Dust514 CEO should be able to manages shares and vote and do anything that an EVE CEO can.
If this game was fun, I wouldn't be playing it.
