NPE and Matchmaking should be the top priorities right now in my opinion.
They are stopping new players from keeping with the game, and veterans from returning more frequently.

The game is not inviting. The community has its own sense of "weirdness" to it which already alienates many people from various demographics.
Not forgetting that gamers generally just want to pick up and play. Here, you have to join a squad or if you solo (which alot more players do than its acknowledged), you risk high ISK costs with low payouts. SP handouts works are better but most come on the other side of an real world money investment. So if you want to advance faster, spend real world money. If you don't, cower in the corner as you try to make good on items that require ISK to be used.
Not too mention that if a weapon is deemed OP by the GD community, the meta rears its ugly head. Noobies who have finally found the dropsuit and weapon of choice are now dismayed because the performance is not the same due to nerfs. There's nothing constant here that grows at an even keel. There are 3-6 months of one item being one way and then its something different later on, which dramatically impacts the game.
And I wonder, what FPS game out there had this "great NPE"? I know Dust doesn't have the greatest but in my recent memory, the NPE in any FPS game I played was negated by a larger playerbase which allowed balancing of fights. I don't recall too many FPS games with this wonderful NPE Right off hand, I can think of Garden Warfare, which has game modes that limit all unlocked content.
Rattati has mentioned meta capped game modes, which would be very helpful with making the NPE more tolerable.
