Right - I'm not a tanker BUT
I was playing the other day and thought I might turn the tide by bringing in a blaster tank, a Soma (the armour one right?) and seeing if I could help the team.
After taking a few hits (most of the enemy team was now cowering behind the supply depot) I decided it would be a good idea to bug out, so I weaved through the trucks and crates and general gubbins on the level that stops you dead (there's another post in itself, small crates and truck things that stop your tank dead..) and activated my booster thingy - the nitrous that makes you drive faster for a short while.
And WUH-TUH-FUH!?
I use a controller and I do struggle with the turning at the best of times, you know, when you turn the left stick to the right or left and it hits that funny dead zone where left becomes backwards and/or forwards and depending on if you are reversing or going forwards your rotation changes?
Again - I'm not a tanker but I was unable to turn the thing! it just went straight ahead, I kept holding left but it went dead straight (okay maybe a little turn - like 1 degree) and then when I let go to turn properly, after crashing into some rocks, I was blown up.
Is this a flaw of the controller? do people who tank have to use a KB because of this? does anyone else have the same issue or is it something that you just understand with time?
Seeking feedback here people - please don't do what I forsee happening and quote "I'm not a tanker" together with "I rest my case.."

Your issue there is not with the controls but with how the vehicles interact with the environment.
The tanks have weight, the LAV's have speed, and the Derpships are effing terribad in my opinion. floating around like pregnant hippos.
The LAV controls are fine, but I agree there needs to be an update in to how they interact with the environment, they flip and crash and do very silly things all too regularly.

Tanks in Dust most certainly do NOT have weight.
I feel they do, aside from crashing into other tanks and the odd scenery interaction, they do feel solid.
Best example of this is crashing into (usually friendly, and usually me) LAV's.
