Why doesn't the Derpship EsPlode?

I guess there would be no hope for people to jump out once it's been destroyed, but isn't that kinda the point..? Part time Logi, Full time heavy.

They don't explode if you keep shooting them either, for example if there's a gorgon or the like on a rooftop for example and I 'destroy' it with my FG, you can keep hitting it and doing seemingly no damage, and then after a number of seconds it then blows up. I'm pretty sure I've emptied a whole clip (6 rounds > ~12,000dmg) with the officer FG and the same is still happening Part time Logi, Full time heavy.

All we did was let a couple of swarms loose after it died, it hit the DS, and it went boom before it touched the ground. Did I witness an anomaly, then? Maybe it's not every time, I don't think I've ever, in 2 years witnessed a DS blow up as the killing blow was recieved. Part time Logi, Full time heavy.
