If basic stats are not so good my answer is yes.
If stats are balanced you can have fun even with a lack of slots.
Almost all suits are fun to play except most of commando suits and cal/gal logi adv and std.
The only vehicles with enough slot to be enjoyable for their role are STD dropships, too bad they are too slow to stay in the air for more than 2 minutes.

There is an innate problem with this: the number of slots leads to the amount of power you are going to get.
It could end up being "I am having more fun with this because it is more powerful!" rather than "look at all my options!"

Ive had my Logi MK.0 punched to death by a std minja.
The fun levels in that exchange were not comparable.

This is true, it would be also interesting to know where is the limit of funny for a reason or the other.
For example, i have a good time with ADV assault suits, i can't say the same of commando where i have to go proto to have a little room for changes,

What is the problem?
It's not forbidden to kill proto with std gear.

No problem.
I was just saying im 100% sure he had way more fun punching me to death with his 2/2 layout then i had getting punched to death with a 4/4. Just stating that fun can be had even with less slots. Essentially agreeing with you i think. Right? Or were you saying something else?

Yes, in fact min scout slot count is not bad, but you surely have fun with your slot layout too, min logi has probably the best layout, especially for lower tiers compared to other logi.
