Ok, so our 28 tankers are confirmed and the tournament bracket has been made, with battles randomly generated. Because of the layout, one pair will get a slight handicap by moving forward with one less battle (see prelimary 1, battle 14).
To avoid scattered updates, updates will come after each round of the tournament has concluded and the battles are uploaded, with the entire series of battles from each round added at once.
There is a list of back up tankers for the first preliminary round in case one or more tank has to drop out, but after preliminary 1, a failure to show up to a preset time will be allowed only once for the rest of the tournament, after that it will count as an exit from tournament and will constitute an automatic win for the player that shows up.
Matches will take place on a bridge map. To avoid unfair map advantages, the match will proceed with the following outlines: 1. Neither player may enter the redline during the match. 2. Each tanker will take place at a preset destination on their side of the map. 3. Once both tankers are in their confirmed spots, the cue to begin the fight will be my own suicide in a remote explosive suit. 4. Each tanker may fit their tank how ever they like, but only one of any active module may be used on a fitting (for example, one hardener and one damage mod could be used on the same tank, but two hardeners etc will not be allowed) 5. Exiting your tank constitutes an automatic loss. 6. Each battle is won by destroying the enemy tank two times, so that is to say best two out of three. 7. Filming of the preliminary 1 round will take place from an aerial dropship view, and will continue the same for the other rounds unless viewer feedback disagrees. 8. Each tanker will pay a 2 million ISK entry fee that is added to the pool of winnings. 9. First place in the tournament will receive 56 million ISK as their winnings. Second place will receive 35 million ISK for their winnings. Third place will receive 15 million ISK for their winnings.
I will be adding the necessary people to a protected chat for organizational purposes, and I ask that all tankers keep that chat for the duration of the tournament. If for any reason you have to drop it (PC chats etc..) or are not invited initially, please mail myself or another participant ASAP to be invited.
Thank you, good luck to all our tankers.

Shepherd Grey wrote:so...13 & 14 get a bye week? i'll enter two more people in. Warrior Kill and......idk, i'll think of someone 30 tankers still wouldn't complete the bracket, and it was getting too much I decided to cut off the roster because with the logistics of it i feel it may begin to take too long to retain interest. This is how a traditional tournament bracket would deal with an imbalance, but I figured one pair getting a slight advantage was better than 6 pairs getting a slight handicap, so I just made one to fit.
Note: were you excited to see your match up? ;) lol

Heimdallr69 wrote:Brackets full? Currently yes, but if you like I will add you to the scratch list, if any tankers do not show up to an agreed upon time during the first preliminary round, the scratch list will be called upon to take their place in the tournament. Given the number of tankers, I will not be surprised at all if you end up being called in.

everyone knew all the gunnlogis would be dual hardner fit anyways and maddrugars cant beat that. the maddys will be running fuel injectors no doubt.
i think ive found something interesting to fight with. im excited to see what the rest of you come up with. Me too, there are some combo i ve never tried , want to see how they work without infantry With AV. If you see me in game give me a holler iv been experimenting with hybrid tanked gunnlogis for a month or so now and dude there beastly as i said if you see me in game hit me up an we can compair fits. Yes, I've switched to hybrid gunnlogis as well. They're proving rather interesting. I think a tank squad with some of us may be a good experience. I was thinking the other night, looking at the names in the chat, like damn you could pull some nasty pubstomp squads outta here lol.

UPDATE:
Due to district changes in ToP (we had plenty of districts readily available on bridge maps, but we lost a couple and gave quite a few more away) I've been having to work with Shep and Silver (big ups to them and CA for helping keep this thing going) to get the logistics back on track. We were uncertain if we were going to go down to one district or not etc, but now that that's sorted out I'm able to give a confident update on our situation.
So, last night we launched the first attack intended for the tournament, landing us on 02:30 tonight (9:30PM EST). We intend to have 3-4 of the preliminary battles done and out of the way by the end of tonight, and we have two more battles placed already to follow up and get preliminary 1 finished up. At that point all the videos from that bracket will be released publicly at the same time. Everyone on the roster list, as well as those standing by as scratches should have already received multiple in game mails from myself and others with the details of the chat room we are using, so please if you are not already in there, try to get in ASAP.
Due to a couple drop-out replacement and logistical miss-matches, a new tournament bracket will be released along with the preliminary 1 videos, detailing the new match-ups and including the names not added in the previous picture. I apologize for not updating this sooner, but it was important to me that I had my information straight before posting an irrelevant update, and now that video shooting is underway we intend to be back on schedule with the match-ups.
Thank you for bearing with the logistical delays and we hope to get this thing concluded without any further hick-ups.

We had to pick battles based off of who was online tonight, but over the next week we will be trying to finish out the remaining battles.

We arent necessarily following the bracket. With having to change some names out for people who dropped out etc, it was just easier to remake the bracket and get some battles out of the way ASAP n get it on the road, like I mentioned before after preliminary 1 is done I'll release an updated bracket that includes the new tankers. Until then just try to be online during the specified timers and in the chat mailed to you.

pegasis prime wrote:Given that I live in Scotland and start work at 6 am most weekdays the timers for this tourney are really hard for me . This would have been better organised for a weekend or even a EU and US separate tourneys . Things to keep in mind for next time... I came to the understanding that no matter how you try to organize it, there is going to be something glaring out as an issue, just a matter of trying to eliminate as many as possible. If only done on weekends we have a much smaller window of opportunity, and the possibility of noshows messing with the entire bracket are much more likely. No matter what it's not gonna be perfect, but that's why the entry fee is low and bragging rights aren't really up for grabs here, it's really just for fun outside of the normal structure.

Tournament Closure:
As many of you may well know, our ability to hold the amount of land we acquired under ToP was beginning to fade for some time, and partially for that reason (among others) we merged into SoP. That being said, my ability to consistently hold and lock the necessary districts for the tournament faded along with it.
Sadly, I will be unable to see the tournament to it's end. It was a fun idea, and if situations should change in the future to be more secure, I might try my hand on a re-do of sorts, only on a much smaller scale. Our time in trying to smooth out the logistics here proved many obstacles, and that will make it much easier to orchestrate in the future if the opportunity presents its self.
As an apology for the inconvenience to all the players who participated this far, and who put in their ISK entry fee - I will be sending you triple the ISK you payed in. To Shepherd Grey and Silver Strike44, I will also send you a portion of ISK because I greatly appreciate all the help you were able to offer, even though we still found ourselves in the pool of incomplete community events, you guys were really cool throughout the whole process in trying to accommodate the schedules of myself and those involved.
Again, my sincerest apologies to the tankers, and anyone who was anticipating the final results. I accept full responsibility for the failure of this event, I did not take the time to thoroughly set up a structure which could reasonably be follow through upon, considering the times and schedules of such a large number of players. I can only hope that I or someone else is able to find more success that I did this time around in trying to bring some fun to an otherwise mundane structure of gameplay.

SoTa PoP wrote: He was a bit too ambitious with applicants, but because there's so many that leaves room for people to drop out.
If I had an EvE toon organizing this would be so much easier, and I know Poncho doesn't have one either to send out mass mails to all applicants at once in-game.
Right now the issue with continuing is communication between the people involved and time zones, but if we could properly talk to them and get them in the 1v1 channel we can probably set things up with Cap, Rofl, and SoP to get battles at any point of the day.
From there we'd need a recorder to prove the match is legit, and assign more then Poncho as a referee so that more time zones can be used for the tournament.
Pretty much sums it up. I will add that if it's something you or others wanted to carry on with, I would still happily offer ISK for a prize, and any time I'm on to offer any support I am able.
