What color do you think pilot suits would be (if they ever get implemented)?
I'm imagining bright orange and white.

Generally, just nerf vehicle responsiveness across the board. Make the pilot suit completely negate that nerf, as the role bonus.
The racial bonuses could be other things that actually provide a biff to vehicle gameplay. Stuff like what True said.

I don't see a reason for it to have highs or lows, tbh. Its not like it really needs them.
I say give it one sidearm. 2 equipment. **** HP. Like 100 HP total. High speed. Faster than a scout. No slots. Vehicle related bonuses.

Could be anything. Might make your character better mesh with the vehicle. Since we have not actual knowledge of how pilots operate their tanks internally it's open to a lot of speculation. I like to think pilots establish a partial mental link with the vehicle through imputs into the dropsuit/implant. If that was the case the Pilot suit could convey small bonuses to absolutely anything to do with the fundamental operation of the vehicle hull itself (not the turret) - Horizontal Turret Traversal Speeds - Reload Speeds - Heat Build Up Reductions - Acceleration Boosts - Etc Maybe only 2 sidearm slots Im guessing some for a caldari pilot suit like Increased range and build up reduction Yeah something like that. Something that gives pilots a Personal Defence Weapon, as well as equipment slots. But not Grenades or Light Weapons. For the Caldari one it could be anything. Slight Increase to zoom, Turret Traversal, Reload Speed. They'd all help slightly. Reload speed and Turret Traversal should be a good bonuse for Missile turrets Projectile speed maybe? That could be an interesting bonus...
What would large missiles be like if they traveled 50% faster? 100% faster?...

Ehhhh I dont see the point of equitment slots They should be able to have slots and ZERO equitment slots and not faster than a scout....imagine a pilot suit thats faster than a minmatar assault......with a smg That's why 100 total HP. And no slots. Its built purely to run away. Actually fighting in this thing would be a death sentence, and the weapon is more of a formality really. It probably wouldn't even have enough CPU/PG to fit an ADV SMG and have room for a repair tool/scanner(which is what the equipment slots are intended for)
So like 60 CPU and 15 PG total. At Prototype. ADV has 1 equipment and 1 sidearm. (40 CPU/11 PG) STD just has a sidearm. (30CPU/7PG)
This suit is basically just an improved interface between the pilot and their vehicle. Like the pods in EVE. It has little to no defensive or offensive capabilities, no slots, and it dies if its shot. But its fast. Damn fast.

I love how you pretend to champion vehicles, when you really only care about HAVs. "Me, me, me!" How do standard Dropship pilots or LAV pilots benefit from any of those bonuses?
You aren't fooling anyone, and you never have Everyone knows you just want 1.7 HAVs back. The fact that all the bonuses that you want are specifically geared for killing infantry makes this pretty self evident.

They would effect turret effectiveness and on lavs the samething But the pilots can't use those turrets, can they? Not while driving, and certainly not a DS pilot. These are suit bonuses, so they wouldn't apply to other people in your vehicle like the vehicle skills do. They are tied to the suit, so only the person in the suit can make use of them.
They need to be blanket bonuses that all vehicle users can make use of equally, not bonuses tailored to HAV users.
