Removing them would have absolutely no noticeable affect on performance.
If you want better performance, ask them to reduce texture sizes or something.
And in case you don't know, there is a way to reduce them a little bit in the options menu. Dropping the graphics quality to low will probably get you a few more frames. Also turn off nonessential sound, such as the dialog sounds. And use 720p output instead of 1080p. If you do all that, there will be a noticeable increase in frames.
But really, there should be an extra low option for textures. Like Playstation 2 sized textures. Real **** looking, but you'll get a steady 40FPS if you use them kind of thing.
Removing moods from everyone's experience is not the way to go about increasing your frames.
I Have 3 different PS3's in the house.
One just recently bought.
2 have SSD's.
Both have been opened and cleaned.
I have run the texture options anyway possible... Have ran them on Low for the last 5 months. No difference what so ever.
I Have been through nearly 3 years of DUST.... I Have been in DUST without these effects.... With nothing but these effects everytime you play in closed beta... When it actually made sense why DUST 514 was named aptly.
Been through Uprising not having them.
Been here day one volcanic effects got added to the maps.
There is a noticeable difference to performance with these effects running. Through the history of DUST. it has been said hundreds of times in squads.
It is not new.
Every DUST player is put in a worse mood because of poor game performance... Not because of crap on a screen the average mercenary has no idea what it even is.... Or that a Volcano is even on the map or exists in DUST.
I Would like to be able to move around with some consistency without frame rates dropping and causing inputs to not register... I Would like to be in the middle of the Most texture intensive map with all 32 mercenaries going all out.... With frame rate sitting at 25-30 FPS.
Matches with these effects on run noticeably worse then a match right after on the same map without them.
We have alot of fluff like these effects that do nothing for accomplishing solid game performance.. FIRST.
