I recently got into scouts and never used the cloak before and maybe I am late to the party but I can tell you this thing is annoying to use. I am already thinking of ditching it in favor of something else because in this form it is not really good.
I can understand a delay when you decloak BUT when you are not cloaked at all? you cant switch to a weapon while running and running interrupts the longass switching animation. those soldiers from the future have serious issue when it takes them seconds to pull down their arm...
whos idea was that? isnt there a better solution than this crap? |

yeah and it is really annoying too. I am not cloaked and it takes ages to put that arm down... my 100 year old grandfather can move his arm faster
I have also found out that you can speed up the DECLOAK & SWITCH by sprint jumping and do the switch mid air |

DJINN Jecture wrote:Cloaks are seriously broken atm true, hell in Eve if i use a covert ops cloak similar to a proto dust cloak and the right ship for it there is no locking or firing delay. I thought we were part of new eden...this seems more like a Chinese knock-off of new eden with most areas being similar (shields, armor, modules etc in all areas) but definitely not in any case the same regardless of how similar they are. Currently running cloaked in a proto scout with a proto cloak wondering wtf is wrong with someone to think the sp invested in this suit shouldn't make it harder to spot than the average bear. (whiners winning 99.8% of the time) I understand what you mean, CCP Shangai basically made the cloak for travel only. they should atleast increase the duration slightly to compensate imho

Alaika Arbosa wrote: Like I said before, cloak should behave like in Eve, no time limit to cloaking, proximity decloak of 10m and a ~10 second delay in switching to anything else.
Give us that first and then we can start discussing Covert Ops Dropsuits.
reads: "hey lets make cloaks useless, then we can talk"
beside that, scouts are the covert ops suits
Quote:When missions call for speed and stealth, situations in which heavily armored suits would be more of a burden than an advantage, a scout dropsuit is the best option. The enhanced mobility it provides makes up for its relatively low protection, and when combined with stealth technology modules, the scout suit is the obvious choice for infiltration, counter-espionage, and assassination. this is pretty much covert ops in my book |

Alaika Arbosa wrote: They would not be useless, they'd be for travel and placement rather than "run up and shotgun you before you realize I am there because I am such a bad scout I can't get a flank on you unnoticed" (which is what I read when you say "hey lets make cloaks useless")
If scouts are covert ops suits, why doesn't CCP give them a similar bonus to Covert Ops capable ships in Eve? I mean they do have the reduced fitting requirement, where is the delay reduction?
so this is where we are at, you are just whining that you got shotgunned into the back. get out troll. this is not eve where you can just sit at a safepot cloaked all day, warp cloaked or do the mwd warp trick and never get caught. this is not eve where you can just send out probes and scan out everyone in short amount of time in the whole system.
10 second delay makes cloaks useless, if I have to wait 10 seconds to do something then you might aswell delete the suit. I move to an objective, I want to clear it from remotes with my flux, oh wait, 10 seconds delay, in that timeframe someone 5 people spawned and killed me. someone shoots me because his crosshair turned red over me or aim assist locked on, lets defend yourself, oh wait, 10 seconds delay. I want to give my team intel, oh wait, 10 seconds delay, cant use scanner and my passive scanning is gimped beyond measure. fight starts, lets support my team with some damage, oh wait, 10 seconds delay and fight is over in 5 seconds.
10m proximity makes cloak useless, there is no acceleration and 10m can be covered in less than 2 seconds, I would never be able to dodge someone or move around someone unless I am sitting in the open, and then I have to wait 10 seconds to something in which case my scouting is useless because my info is 10 seconds old.
in short, your "brilliant" ideas just made all activities scouts participate at impossible. also if you do not understand why an FPS needs less delay instead of more then you simply are not entitled to discuss such things. beside that, all suits in dust are suits for combat, not for sitting around in the corner peeing and waiting 10 seconds... your "ideas" are just anti shotgun scout whining in disguise. |

what? can't you get behind someone without it?
Some of the ideas you propose I can get behind (like reticle not turning red when you're cloaked), though for the most part you a really striking me as one of the "we should be cloaked combatants cause I get shot too easily when I am not cloaked"
At least that is what all of your whining about how useless the cloak would be in this hypothetical situation leads me to believe.
see that bit of credibility? you lost it several posts ago, it was flushed down the toilet by your own stupidity... you failed what the thread is about and you cant even read properly.
go troll someone else with your anti scout whining. |

you lost credibility because of terrible reading comprehension, lack of understanding what scout is about, stupid ideas and anti shotgun scout whining in a thread about QoL fixes. no one will take you seriously now, deal with it. |

sure, that is why you suggest worst possible mechanic to be implemented into an FPS in an QoL thread, read only half of what I wrote and answer with terrible baits... oh wait, that is pretty much trolling!

so you are tellung us that eve and dust is the same game, right? who would guess that a game centered around eve lore could have eve mentioned somewhere, what a totally new concept
and btw, no one ever said something about the combat applications of scouts with shotgun, till you came in whining about it. I even gave you 5 reasons why what you said was terrible, yet you didnt managed to answer with anything else than anti shotgun jabbering again and some stuff about eve that is not relevant in dust. the butthurt is written all over your face.
anyway good job derailing the thread. |

well, then from the bottom of one's heart, I am sorry
but dude, you just rekt yourself the third time in a row. did you really just said that you complain about scouts decloaking in your face? you realize that shooting while cloaked is not possible anymore? are you blind, didnt your saw that blue thing running at your direction? |

anyway, here are my suggestions for the QOL fixes: -decloak delay should not affect you when you arent cloaked -crosshair shouldnt turn red when you are cloaked when you point over a cloaked suit (this would also improve spawn mechanic) -auto aim should not lock on you when you are cloaked
These all seem pretty good imo. Especially the underlined part. I had no idea it worked that way and it sounds pretty restrictive. If you run during the decloak animation the whole thing starts over from the beginning? Ouch... actually I found out that you can switch while sprinting, you just dont see it happen until it is finished. if you for some reason stop sprinting it interrupts and you have to start switching from the beginning. if you start switching during normal speed and then sprint it also gets interrupted.
