Imagine a map with socket items like industrial buildings on it like the kind we have now.
Now imagine that gravity and sound is turned off (except for the sound of your own breath, and the announcer woman).
Now imagine that map is an asteroid in space in a small cluster of other large asteroids in space, and those industrial sockets are there to harvest minerals from it (lore justification).
Now imagine a dropsuit fitted with special thrusters on the back to move in near-zero gravity (same movement controls as walking/sprinting, but in 3 dimensions). So far these are not that massive to do.
Imagine fighting drones on these asteroids.
Imagine fighting other players on them.
Imagine that 6 months after 0-G combat releases, some ship wreckage maps get released so mercenaries can fight inside and around them.
Why does Legion need this? because nothing suggests it has anything that special going for it anyway. While other shooters are incorporating exoskeleton-powered dashes and jumps, jetpacks for climbing up and wall running, or even the simple ability to climb ledges and vault over cover, nothing we know of Legion so far suggests it will have movement options besides the basics, despite our high tech suits.
While Dust seemed like it would be special when first announced as a game supporting 64 player battles, nothing suggests Legion will even attempt this.
Nothing suggests Legion will have a great level of player control over battle assets like Dust initially promised (player-deployed installations, player-piloted MCCs).
Nothing suggests Legion will have visually interesting environments, only the moods.
PVE, while great, will not make Legion special.
Better graphics will not make Legion special.
Some unvaried boring game types lacking in complexity like Domination won't make Legion special.
A few dead burning trees won't make Legion special when there are other shooters with lush alien forests.
Sandbox areas where you can roam, fight drones, scavenge, AND fight other players are special, but they're the only thing special about Legion so far that has been revealed.
I have no real reason to be optimistic, but I want to be. Please do something fun, something tangible in actual gameplay to make me excited about Legion. 0 gravity battles would be a great example of something special to make players excited. Show us Legion isn't more of the same.
At the very least, show us that Legion will be a complete game where entire categories of items aren't Caldari and Gallente only (Warbarges, MCCs, RDVs, LAVs, HAVs, literally all vehicles, all map outposts). This also includes each race having a weapon in a category (right now in Dust, the Amarr only have 3 weapons, while the Caldari have 8).
Give me something to hope about.

I want something that inspires my sense of wonder, not just a gazillion players in a Battlefield-esque game with guns and armor that look like they were made by a children's toy company.

Still way better than Dust, Nintendo graphics and Lego art look better than graphics and weapons in Dust. Good luck in your quest but I'll see you there. Graphics aren't a priority for me, and personally I find the art style of Dust's weapons and suits to be pretty good.
