Why dont we have mines? I would think that in futuristic warfare mines should at least be available. I am sure that most people know what I am talking about : proximity explosives for infantry. I think thats the only way setting up animation makes sense. With the delay to arm remotes are not the grenades people complain they are. I need to use the detonate switch twice or more to detonate my explosives

I didnt say it was hard its a challenge. But if those complaining use remotes they would know that they dont work like grenades. I usually use my remotes as traps. Set one behind and then one in front. One will definitely get the kill.
The arming animation will only work for mines is what I think

We don't have means for counter play atm that are reliable and effective.
Just throwing mines in by itself takes away from the game.
Adding an easy means to bypass them; find them; kill them; or disable them and have easily and more readily available to all players and play styles would add something.
What if a sentinel could immune the damage off if they activate their mode ahead of it? What if logis can hack it and flip its owner. What if scouts can cloak by it without setting it off? What if assaults had a very reliable means of destroying ones they spot?
Right now its flux greande and thats unreliable as hell.

But I don't think it's a good idea in general. Maybe if it wasn't OHKO, and just like its supposed to be; a trap meant to slow advances.

While your logic is sound that New Eden militiaries would develop landmines...
lemme tell you that simply from playing Killzone 3, proximity mines for infantry are one of the most annoying and fun-killing mechanics in a video game. I mean we're talking absurd amounts of explosives no matter where you go, everywhere you go,

Unless they can do it in a balanced way, I think we are better off leaving the job to the REs.
People complain about those enough already, and are by no means passive.
Unless people are stupid enough to shoot them from close range, in which case they deserved it.

I dont think it has to be that complicated. I am thinking along these lines. Proximity explosives but with very little damage. They can be scanned and shot at. Reducing their range is also good too. Having them have a very low scan profile will make scanners more useful in battles. I think reducing the scan profile of remotes might work as a short term solution.
I think of this scenario. A scout with no SP invested into scan precision, gets behind a heavy or most likely a logi to shotgun but instead explodes. That would be awesome

Make them appear when Scanned and give them a small, 2s delay in which they emit a loud beeping noise. That way you can still counter & evade them by being attentive.

Great ideas... only thing I would suggest is having the infantry proximity explosive have same damage progression as locus nades....with 2 seconds of distinctive beeping (or enough time for the slowest assault to get out of its blast radius without sprinting).... make the area of affect half that of nades wile only being allowed to carry 2....make this happen CCP no extra assets necessary.....I expect this next patch :)

What if the infantry mines were around 300 HP, and had scanning precision, such that if someone was dampened enough they could beat them.
Lower tier mines would have higher precision numbers, and would be easier to beat, with maybe a smaller blast radius, while higher tier mines could have a lower precision number and would be harder to beat with a little greater blast radius.

I hope this becomes .. I hope it happens. I dont care how basic it is. Those complaining about remotes, should really try using them. Remotes right now as already being used as mines, at least by me. I set 2 a few meters apart I hope one gets my opponent. Running at someone and throwing them is the other thing that I do
