AH... you reminded me.
I was going to propose an idea for skirmish/dom where there is a sort of Clone Reserve hold, near the opposing team's redline (or maybe not, because then there would be a situation where tanks on either side are just sitting at each other's redline hitting this unit)
But the general jist would be that in skirm or dom matches, there would be this Clone Reserve, and its purpose would be to hold clones. However, once your team's has been destroyed, the clone count would drop substantially. They would have 100% resistance to anything BUT a tank's gun., to give tanks their own job. Now, it could be set up a few different ways.
-Before the match starts, it states whether you are on the Attacker or Defender side. Right now, it doesn't matter. However, this could change. The defender would have a higher clone count than the attacker, but if the reserve is destroyed, the count would become lower than the attacker's.
A few systems could be in place:
NOTE: RUs would be placed a distance from any objective, so as to try to keep infantry as out of it as possible
Infantry: Well then why did I skill into Swarms and Forges?
Me: If your team doesn't have tanks, you could defend the RU. Also, there are still LAVs and Dropships for you to kill.
1. Defender has one very strong RU (reserve unit) where if destroyed, substantially decreases clone count.
2. Defender has 2 or 3 semi-strong RUs, where if all are destroyed, would cripple clone counts. If only some are destroyed, the defender could still be OK
3. One almost impossible to destroy RU, but for x-amount of damage done to it, y-amount of clones are lost.
What I
hope this would do would be to have tanks almost do their own sort of thing while still having them impact the battle. I would hope there would be tankers on each side defending and attacking the RU(s), in a hopefully enjoyable tank battle.
This would need greater Tank vs Tank balance though, so all sorts of tankers would be able to enter the fray.
