So I've had this game since late February, but haven't exactly played much, just let my SP accumulate, and I've got a lot to spend, I just don't know on what exactly. I know I want to use a medium suit, but I'm not sure which ones I should use.
So with that being said, could someone help me out by giving me some pros and cons for the different assault and logistics suits? I'd appreciate it. |

Assaults if you want to kill.
Logistics if you want to support.
There was a time where the roles of Logistics could do the same, but their health and speed went down, while the Assaults' went up. You could still be a slayer logi, but meh. |

Nano Vyper wrote:So with that being said, could someone help me out by giving me some pros and cons for the different assault and logistics suits? I'd appreciate it. A logistics dropsuit can fit more than one equipment module and receives some decent bonuses with their racial equipment type. Amarr for uplinks, Minmatar for repair tools, Caldari for nanohives, and Gallente for active scanners.
All but the Amarr lacks a sidearm slot. They are slightly slower than an assault and have less eHP. They do, however, excel at supporting their team. They can make some pretty wild WPs by dropping equipment and repairing folks.
If you liked being the "healer" in other MMOs, you will enjoy being a logi.
Assaults are straight slayers. They have one equipment slot, but no bonuses with that equipment. Ideally, they would fit either an uplink to keep the team regularly spawning into the front or a needle to pick up downed soldiers. Assaults received nice bonuses with their race's service rifles. A particularly deadly combination right now is a Minmatar Assault with a combat rifle.
Just call me Ripple. Ripple Riley.

I'll try the assaults. Most of my experience is with the Minmatar so of other users want to comment or correct, be my guest. Also, remember that these are just my opinions and observations, you're free to fit however you want or to fit a certain situation and are not confined to a certain weapon either.
Minmatar: +: Very customizable, can fit viable shield and armor tanks (usually 450/450 with maxes about 550 and 600 iirc); very fast (rivals scout); CR and SMGs are excellent weapons and get an amazing bonus -: Relatively low on ehp, no bonus to MD or FL :(, needs a lot of SP to be fully utilized (armor, shield, and biotic skills) Tactics: Hit-and-run/ambush shield tank or high-damage armor tank are typical
Amarr: +: High armor ehp (ADV can easily push 1k), ScR is good with good bonus -: Slow, low repair for armor amount, no sidearm bonus, ScR has trouble against heavily armored suits (heavies), almost requires a Logi Tactics: Head on assaults/ brawling
Caldari: +: Excellent shield tank with high hp and regen (+700 at 80/s iirc), very mobile (not as much as Min), reload bonus for Magsec and BP -: Very susceptible to lasers, flux, and blasters, lackluster weapon systems and bonuses (though change is in the wind) Tactics: Kiting with cover (stay out of range and duck and regen when hit), ARR is ok up close I believe.
Gallente +: Good armor buffer with excellent regen (+600 and +25-30/s), ARs are good at many ranges with minimal SP (AR, Tac, Breach, and even Burst is excellent now as well) with a decent bonus, mostly self-sufficient (no Logi needed to rep) -: No sidearm bonus (lolionpistol), slower, trades ehp for rep (which, while constant, is a bit low), AR has some trouble against armor. Tactics: brawl with cover (get close and duck away to rep)

I will tell you the ups and downs for all Assault suits:
Amarr Pros: They have the highest eHP of all the assaults on base stats. And even more when fitted. Don't be afraid to use Armor Plates because yes this is the slowest of all Assaults but the Amarr Assalt is meant for Standing and Deliverig. It's bomus for the Scrambler and Laser rifle makes it a force to be recon with from long ranges and sustained fire. Yes you are slow but you have the stamina to make for it.
Cons: Slow, so you better kill enemies fast before they get near you.
Gallente Pros: CQC kings and armor repairing kings. All Gallente suits have the best armor repair speed per second on base stats. Faster than the Amarr but all Gallente and Caldari suits have the same speed and crap stamina. It's bonus for Plasma weapons is a hidden gem. The ability to shoot precise for up to 40 meters while hip firing is excellent. Especially on CQC where you will encounter many targets at once. Kill one and then quickly just drag your crosshaor on top of the other enemy and kill him. Combine this with the Sharpshooter skill for the Assault (Plasma) Rifle and you will be devastating up close. Use ferroscales, reactives and armor repair modules on this suit.
Cons: Crap stamina. Deplets fast and regenerates slow. Since this suit is meant for CQC which means you need speed. So you will need to fit one kinetic katelyzer on the suit risking some armor tank and armor repair speed.
Minmatar Pros: Fastest Assault suit. Great bonus. Equal High and Low slots. Most versitile suit of the whole game. Tho mosy people usually dual tank this suit (armor and shields) it is best used with one or 2 kinetic katalyzers on lows with one or damage mods on the highs. Minmatar suits are meant for hit n' run tactics so using speed and damage modules compliments this playstyly a lot. That is how I have been using my Minmatar suit since August. Incredible speed, incredible stamina regen and good stamina bar.
Cons: Weakest Assault suit of the whole game. It has the lowes eHP stats. So this suit is not meant for the frontlines or franctic CQC battles.
Caldari Pros: The shield tankers of the game. If you know how to play this suit you will become an annoying force on the field. But you gotta know how to fit it. If fitted right, you can have 400-500 shield eHP with 120 shield recharge rate per second with 1-2 seconds of shield recharge delay and shield recharge depletion delay (this are at proto stats but I currently own a 'Raven Caldari Assault with only level 3 everything in shields and it is a boss of a suit)
Cons: Same crap stamina as the Gallente. Fear laser weapons. Bad bonus (but will get changed soon)
Changes to Damage mods!

[Always useful to have these skills]: These skills are a bigger priority than new suits in my opinion. Try to raise them at least a little Engineering (or get to lv4): gives you more PG to fit stuff on your suits, also unlocks PG mods. Electronics (or get to lv4): gives you more CPU to fit stuff on your suits, also unlocks CPU mods. Armor upgrades: increases the base armor of your suits Armor plating: increases the HP of armor plates, and unlocks armor plates Shield upgrades: increases the base shields of your suits Shield extension: increases the HP of shield extenders, and unlocks shield extenders. Handheld weapon upgrades: reduces the CPU consumption of damage mods, and unlocks damage mods Core upgrades: more PG/CPU Light weapon operation: reduces CPU consumption of light weapon. Might want to do the same for the sidearm one, or heavy weapon one if you're a heavy. Demolition: Reduces CPU consumption of explosives Biotic upgrades: more sprint speed, stamina, and stamina recovery Nanocircuitry: reduces CPU consumption of nanite injectors and nanohives (unlisted bonus) and unlocks better injectors and hives. System hacking: makes you hack faster, and unlocks hack speed mods.
[Dropsuit choices] Amarr medium: Highest base HP, second highest stamina, slowest medium frames. Once the skill is at lv3, you can unlock 2 different specialization suits: Assault: Lots of low slots (good for armor plates and other low slot modules). Has a bonus to PG/CPU cost reduction of weapons, and a laser weapon heat reduction bonus. If you want to use laser weapons (laser rifle, or scrambler rifle) this is the suit to get; it allows you to fire longer before overheating.
Logistics: has slightly less base HP than its assault counterpart, and can carry more equipment (carries 2 at standard tier, and 3 advanced and prototype tiers). Has a bonus PG/CPU consumption reduction for equipment, and a bonus to drop uplink (deployable spawn points) maximum spawns, and spawn time reduction. This is the ONLY logi that has a sidearm.
Gallente medium: lots of low slots (good for armor plates and other low slot mods), and have the best base armor repair rates. Decent base HP, speed, etc. Once the skill is at lv3, you can unlock 2 different specialization suits: Assault: basically like the basic medium, but with a bonus to PG/CPU reduction of weapons, and has a kind of useless dispersion-reduction bonus to hybrid-blaster weapon (assault rifle plasma cannon, shotgun, ion pistol). The dispersion bonus may change in the future.
Logistics: has slightly less base HP, and can carry more equipment (carries 3 at standard and advancd tiers, and 4 at prototype tier). Has a bonus to PG/CPU consumption reduction for equipment, and active scanner precision and visibility.
Caldari medium: lots of high slots (good for shield modules, damage mods, and other high slot modules), best shield regeneration. Decent base HP, speed, etc. Once the skill is at lv3, you can unlock 2 different specialization suits: Assault: basically like the basic medium, but with a bonus to PG/CPU reduction of weapons, and has a reload speed bonus to hybrid-rail weapons (rail rifle, sniper rifle, magsec SMG, bolt pistol). The reload speed bonus may change in the future.
Logistics: has slightly less base HP, but can carry more equipment (carries 2 at standard tier, and 3 at advanced and prototype tiers). Has a bonus to PG/CPU consumption reduction for equipment, and to nanohive (including repair nanohives) maximum nanites and resupply rate. At prototype, this suit has the most module slots in the game, though may be lacking in PG/CPU.
Minmatar medium: A balance of high and low slots for versatility. Lowest base HP, but highest speed and stamina among medium frames. Once the skill is at lv3, you can unlock 2 different specialization suits: Assault: basically like the basic medium, but with a bonus to PG/CPU reduction of weapons, and has magazine bonus to projectile weapons (combat rifle, and SMG).
[*] Logistics: has slightly less base HP, but has 1 more low slot then its assault counterpart, and can carry more equipment (carries 3 at standard and advanced tiers, and 4 at prototype tier). Has a bonus to PG/CPU consumption reduction for equipment, and repair tool range and repair rate.

Core skils!
You need cores!
Minmatar assaults if you want speed, very good regain and base stats and plan to use the combat rifle. Overall it's a very good suit that is extremely versatile. Bonus to Projectile ammo.
The Minmatar Logi is best if you wanna focus on healing with a rep tool. Bonus to rep tool range(may be something else too but I can't remember.)
Caldari Assault gets a lot of flak for its poor bonus, but that may change it the future. High shields with the best shield regain. Middle ground as far as speed and stamina go and not meant to run Armour mods(which doesn't meant it doesn't see any benefits from running plates) if you plan to use rail tech this is probably the suit for you. Not suited for CQC, meant for medium to long range combat. Bonus is to reload speed of all rail weapons.
Caldari Logis are best used for laying down hives as they get a bonus to them.
I'll type the others after I finish my dumplings and scallion pancakes.

You can read here for my generic advice.
Regardless of what you decide to do, I would suggest getting Minmatar Logistics to at least 1. Minmatar and Gallente are the only Logistics that have 3 Equipment slots at Standard level. This allows you to get an extreme amount of War Points by throwing down Uplinks, Nanohives, and having the WP fountain known as the Repair Tool. Amarr and Caldari do not have a third equipment slot until Advanced level. When it comes to the strength of their bonus, Minmatar = Amarr >>> Gallente > Caldari though maybe Gallente = Caldari.
I find Assaults to simply not be worth it. Whenever I am using my Caldari Assault, I just keep coming to the same realization that my Scout does the same thing but better. Caldari are 'supposed to use long range weapons and skirmish at a distance' but my Scout has a hell of a lot more speed and the extremely useful Cloak to allow me to flank and escape if need be. For maybe 50% more HP, you lose quite a bit of speed and get bonus to weapons that are generally not that useful. I find that the entire Assault tree needs an overhaul.
If you have a Logistics suit, see if you can Squad up with a Heavy. If you are in DUST Uni, just throw out a message in Corporation chat like "New player looking for Squad and advice." If you have a microphone, they will surely help you out. Repair the Heavy as they go about murdering people and see the awe and wonder that is Triage War Points. If you go this route, be sure that you have some points in Equipment.

The numbers barely keep up with a Logi in terms of range and the precision is effectively the same (can scan meds, can't scan scouts). The effective scan range is barely 30m which is totally unusable for recon.
This coming from a dedicated scan scout since its conception. The Cal scout is nothing more than a light assault that can dampen.
