I am constantly seeing players strafe faster than I can walk sideways and changing direction on a dime, literally going straight left and straight right, without any slowdown whatsoever. And it's not any particular suit either, I just saw a Caldari quafe suit doing it. Strafing straight left and straight right. Not doing circles, not slowing down a hair, walking faster sideways in a Caldari heavy than I can in my Minmatar assault (just in case you have any questions about what I run and my strafe speed).
And as we've all been told innumerable times kb/m is balanced, so that couldn't possibly be the cause.
So CCP Ratatti, CCP Logibro, CCP Frame, whoever may or may not be listening out there, I have played this game since Replication and this has been a thing the entire time. It's more prominent now and has gotten to the point that I'm actually calling you out on it finally. This is not simply people really good at strafing. This is something beyond simple stick twirling. Track this behavior and tell me how and why this is happening and what you plan to do to fix it. This is game breaking and is not conducive to an even playing environment and the issue is apparently spreading as I see it more often every day.
Side note: Is it possible to brick a heavy Caldari Quafe suit to survive a direct hit from a KLA-90? Because this heavy also survived one of those, though with just a scrap of amor left. I know it was a KLA-90 because I was the one firing it, he was about 5 meters away and was standing still. I don't know the eHP of Caldari heavies with maxed stats as I've never run one so figured I'd crowdsource an answer.

From my understanding KBM's use an emulated input so that using them creates acceleration and deceleration, so it SHOULDN'T be that, though I would love someone to test that for me.
However, it's possible that if you falsify a keyboard as a controller you can maintain the digital input. It's this digital input that is what causes super strafing, when there is no inertia between maximum left and maximum right velocity.
It needs testing, but you can usually tell when it happens because it looks unnaturally fast.

Just trying to force CCP to look at it as a real issue to look into. This is as gamebreaking as turbo controller spam, moreso depending on the skill of the player. There's tactics to deal with it, but when a full squad on the other team is doing it you might as well wait in the MCC for the match to end.

You're just going to get alot of speculation but no definitve answer on this subject. My guess is its some sort of exploit since the neckbeards spend the nights lying awake at night trying to come up with new ways to break the game. Inevitably it will come down to a nerf instead of fixing the real problem and everyone will suffer. I really do believe that fixing hit detection and lag would go a long way. A scout passing through a bulletstream should at least take a little damage

IDK, the quick jitterbug with the stick has always been a little too effective in this game when combined with the lag/framerate issues but some peope take it to unnatural levels.

there is a "dead zone" on the controller once it reaches the middle which = no direction input where as the KB/M does not have a "dead zone" just instant direction change
its the onlt thing that i can come up with

Strafing has always been a tactic, however the real kicker is when you have latency and strafing on your side. The enemy aiming at you with their controller will never hit because the aim assist will be behind. This is why I continue to tell CCP that ping based matchmaking needs to happen. Not this stupid region server thing that has been abused since day one
Rise and shine CCP. It's time to implement ping based match making.

What the OP is seeing has nothing to do with KBM. Said a bit more directly, it happens when I use both input mechanisms.
What he's seeing is simply low framerate situations (and/or latency/connection jitter) and how the UT engine handles them....in other words, not well....and CCP will be hamstrung to ever fix it until these low framerate situations are mitigated. |

Reduction to strafe speed please. What infantry relies on this to win a firefight? You are supposed to use cover! And be a good shot, minus AA; which needs to be removed. |

I see both this and the inverse when others apparently can't keep up with my actual location and I seem to be moving faster than they can move. So I easily strafe then flank while they are firing at my last location.

Strafing has been a feature of every single FPS I've ever played for almost twenty years now.
Thankfully so, IMO, otherwise it's "first person to stick their head out of cover dies" --and where's the fun in that?

To test this get in a basic tanked gal or ammar commando suit. Step out from behind cover for one second when you know their are reds going to fire on you. Watch the delay between when you step out, then back behind cover and the bullet animation, sound effects and damage registration. You'll notice the lag abusers won't seem to fire at you at all for that one second and then it will seem like they are shooting through the cover after you've moved back.

yea strafing is an issue they are working on, but that PLC shot,
A basic caldari heavy with proto modules should be insta killed by a PLC
because its shield suit is should have been melted by that plasma. I have noticed PLC splash damage to be off, I was asked by someone about it and he said he was noticing it. Its probably part of that glitch thing affecting all PLC damage.

Keep in mind both the Caldari and Minmatar Sentinel receive a resistance to plasma weapons.
If maxed: -The Caldari has a 15% resistance for shields -The Minmatar has a 10% resistance for armor

To those of you who point to lag, a question: I play Dust with my girlfriend in Finland for about 1-5 hours every day pretty much. Usually when I experience lag she doesn't, barring 'team-wide lag' where you get to fumble around and watch as you and your teammates try to reorient yourselves after your games basically paused for a few seconds while the other team was still moving and shooting; and the curious and annoying 'match-wide lag' that looks like teamwide lag, but when it catches up you expect to have to compensate for movement or relocate your target and both teams just look around confused for a moment not certain what the hell just happened..... anyway, I have terrible internet and she has crazy good internet, well over 20Mb, so when I lag I know it's my internet based on what she sees. I've played Dust with her for well over a year now, she knows her way around Dust better than a good 98% of you, and when she and I both see a squad moving in this manner, and can pretty much identify them as a squad because of the way they move, no one else on their team strafing like them, I find it hard to blame it on lag. However, I have no deep knowledge of how such things function let alone how they screw up. I just know that CCP needs to look into it, they need to post their findings, and they need to fix the entire issue in one fell swoop ASAP. Prompt customer service for an issue they've barely touched at all over the last year unless the whole server went to ****. That's not asking too much, right? = P
If it's kb/m, pull the cord on it until it's fixed. If CCP could prevent all turbo controllers they would, why do we allow the kb/m then when it's twice as bad? A turbo controller with aim assist on vs a semi-experienced kb/m user, the kb/m user wins every time unless teamwork interferes or dumb luck comes your way. More bullets fired doesn't mean **** when they can't hit the target. I've heard kb/m users whine for a while now how bad the control is, rebalance that **** and put it out.
If it's not kb/m, write in detail what it is and how it's being addressed.

That's the question. 15% of how many shields? That's dropped to 5% by plasma's +10% to shields, so 5% of how many shields? And how much armor?
(Please note that I am being generous and assuming this person has maxed out core skills, also please note that he was equipped with an MH-82, a basic ion pistol and flux grenades [assume basic] for reference on PG/CPU)
