Over 100 threads about tanks being op hit the forums
Proto players whined because they couldnt kill them by their self
Now tanks are lavs with more armor and shield but slower and weaker~ |

What really happened:
1.7 hit and every other merc on the field was in an HAV. It was the worst case of imbalance since the AR-514 Slayer Logi.

What really happend:
Uprising 1.7 hit and every of the few remaining vehicle player skilled into infantry roles because tanking was boring as hell without modules, slots and turret variations.
Situational awareness also known as passive scan.

To put it into perspective, it was the same as if people fresh out of the academy had almost the same amount of EHP as a fully skilled proto suit.

'AR-514' was not even close to Tank-514.
Its resolution was amusing, though - introducing the even more OP rail and combat rifles.
Sometimes, one just has an overwhelming urge to throw a potato at someone.

Only the people who only run the same 3-4 fits over and over again for year+ thought TANK 514 was so bad....
Everyone else called in a MLT tank and had some of the most EPIC Tank fights DUST has ever seen..
Tank battles with 6++ tanks invloved.... Tank fight after tank fight non stop for 15 minutes..
It is the most enjoyable the vehicle game has ever been in DUST.
Sadly Tanks where too good at being infantry... As Close range weaponry on a Tank had pinpoint aiming capability...And every infantry player who can only play infantry complained.
At best vehicles had a close range blaster weapon with pinpoint accuracy and ridiculous speed so they could outrun forge positions and in some cases even Swarms...
Instead of just fixing the few flaws with how tanks operated in perspective against infantry... We nerfed tanks abilities while buffing AV.
Hence the double nerf or the double buff CCP is so famous for.... Where they indirectly Buff something 2-3 different ways While trying to fit to many balancing changes into one patch and never fully thinking them out or how they work together...
So Tanks got their Weapon nerfed, Their speed nerfed, Their range nerfed and the cost nerfed...
While AV got buffed....
And the Nail was put into the Tank's coffin like that...
Tanks in their current state? didn't need to be.... they are put in it's current state simply by CCP Doing the same stupid bullshit that has gotten them into trouble countless times. Double and triple nerfing things..
Hopefully CCP Rattati understands the scale of the vehicle problem... And that the entire playstyle needs to be re evaluated and the entire Concept of WHY vehicles are in DUST needs to be discussed and fully figured out.
Then from there? They have something to build on. |

The CR/ACR still holds it's OPness as the RR makes an attempt of working to a balanced spot.
Typing this was hell on me. I had to go back and fix every word that included an R due to a stubborn 'R' key.
Kill Death Ratio is an invalid metric and thus should not be used to determine skill.

Pretend you're interested in balance for just a 'bit and reread what you've written:
If you aren't in an HAV, then you can't counter the HAV. Get farmed or get a tank. And if your side isn't willing or able to max quota with tanks to counter our max quota tanks, then get steamrolled. But if you do max quota tanks, we'll have fantastic fun time together.
There's nothing EPIC about rampant imbalance, broken AV, and squadrons of tanks farming defenseless infantry. If big vehicle battles are your thing, then find a vehicle game. Otherwise, accept the fact V/AV interplay is critical to balance in any FPS, and that no player deserves a win button. |

Tank 514 was the most imbalanced the game has ever been. Tanks were virtually untouchable by infantry. It would take a full squad to take down a single tank and the squad defenseless while doing it and would get wiped out by infantry.
Don't listen to the tankers, as a whole they still have the highest kdrs in the game and if anything AV needs a buff.
The fact that a handful of tankers agreed to spam the forums asking for their god mode to be returned does not mean that tanks need a buff.
Btw, dropship are still untouchable as they can outrun swarms.
Righ now, unless the tanker or droship pilot is clueless, the best you can hope for as AV is to force them to have to leave an area for a minute or two. |

Can any tanker tell me why their SP investment in vehicles should be more special that same SP investment in dropsuit and av weapon? Why do U think lone av guy can't 1v1 You if both got same SP?
