In many cases, it's been like this for over a year now...
Skills which don't do anything: (Want to truly waste your skill points?)
HAV operation 2 - 5. LAV operation 4 - 5. Dropship operation 4 - 5. Vehicle engineering 2 - 5. Dropsuit upgrades 5.
Weapons you probably shouldn't use:
Breach Shotgun ( needs same RoF and reload speed as normal SG ) Breach Mass Driver ( needs faster projectile speed ) Assault Mass Driver ( needs more splash damage ) CAR-9 Burst Scrambler Pistol (... just use a breach ) Thukker Contact Locus grenade ( needs 2 grenades instead of 1 )
And arguably...
Standard Large blaster ( can't kill infantry and can't really kill vehicles either ) All Small Blasters ( in a time before dispersion... ) ( If the other team likes using AV ) ALL armor vehicles in domination.
Some more useless stuff...
Vehicle ammo expansion unit ( seriously why bother ) Range amplifiers ( needs increase to 15%/25%/35% ) The pilot dropsuit section in marketplace Contact grenade section in marketplace Turret installations ( When a noobs realizes he's not good with his AR... ) Those spawn points beside CRUs ( HAHAHAHAHAHAHA... WHY? ) The MCC ( remember skirmish 1.0? ) 80% of the map in domination ( 22 fp/s and for what? )
I'm sure much of the above could be fixed in a hotfix maybe next week if the devs really wanted.

Sounds like someone's particularly complaining about vehicle things mostly. ;) Rattati has a feedback thread open about reintroducing vehicle variants that might be of interest.
As far as contact grenades, CCP effectively removed them from the game. As some people had purchased them with AUR, and they couldn't really take them away, they just nerfed them into oblivion instead. Do not expect them to make a comeback.

Incase you aren't aware, they do plan on doing things with the MCC, pilot dropsuits, and contact grenades. :) https://trello.com/b/8PvubQrN/dust-514-community-crowdsourcing Give that link a look. :)
As for range amplifiers, you obviously dont run scout/scanners. :P
And we'll see how much you like that ground spawn beside the CRU closest to your MCC when I capture it in Skirmish. :)

Usually tanked with shield extenders ( sometimes precision enhancers ) and/or profile dampers, reactive plates.
Once upon a time I was a user of range extenders. Since that rather strong nerfing I just look at that 15% and think to myself every time " eh, 75 more HP seems a bit more tempting". Some I'm sure still use them but I would rather rely on passive skills and/or active scanners. They went from one extreme to the other when they nerfed them.

Assault MD is still beast, especially on a minmando. Went 24/7 with it the other night. Its just not something that can be used every match.
I only play dust514ums now. It was always more fun than the actual game anyways.
