Two HMG heavies are the tip of the spear. The logi has the dual rep. The heavies move out on point, the logi in tow. One assault is long range the other CQC, moving out on the logis flanks. The logi has MD and so could 1 assault. (logi should be CQC as to not transfix on ADS targets)
The CQC assault is tasked with defending the logi. other CQC weapons such as gal assault with BRar or ACR would work. The other assault body guard is long range possible caldari RR and tanked for EHP. or amarr with laser or SCR. the idea that he is long range, uses ADS more, and does not need as much mobility as he is supported by the squad if he gets in a CQC catch.. he provides long range fire and sticks by his squad.
The whole squad moves out as one behind the 2 heavies who are smart enough and considerate enough not just to hoar out at the sake of his squad members trying to keep him supported. both heavies are tasked with defending their squad not just to blindly push forward to ***** kills. (i know, a very foreign concept for most heavies)
CQC min assault fits rep tool to rep the logi... the caldari long range also fits triage in case the logi goes down. logi is providing nanos, dual rep and triage and a possible scanner. scout is providing droplink. scout is free to roam, hack and flank enemies that are being suppressed into cover by his squad but is expected to regroup for the next encounter..
All squad members are expected to look out for each other and the squad is one entity if all dedicate themselves to the squad and not constantly pursue personal glory. the 6 members are one lumbering war machine who try to maintain formation.. any sign of obsessive kill hoar at the sake of his squads unity should be replaced..

You're missing a squad member, unless I missed something in the post.
I haven't run in a squad in a long time so I'm not the best for squad composition. I like your idea, though I would add a cloaked scout running point in front of the heavies. I might also change out the close range Assault for a Commando running a short range weapon plus Swarms.
So I guess:
2x heavies w/HMG 1x Commando with (racial weapon) and Swarms, and needle 1x Logi with dual reps, also with 2x hives and needle 1x Assault with needle and mid/long range weapon 1x Scout with cloak and needle and weapon of choice
EDIT: This is 100% off the cuff without serious thought, but on the surface I like it.

Would LOVE seeing a 6 man squad all running the same racial types and weapons so you can really see what the combat style of each race is when it's "pure". (with the exception of the Heavies given lack of racial variants of heavy weapons)

1 deadly heavy 2 logis with both dual rep, one got uplink, other got nanos, a'd both got needles. 2 scouts to prevent ambushes from others (RE/Cloak or Uplink/Needle) 1 assault/commande to slay the long ranged enemies or the vehicles. (Nano or needles)

It depends on the map and gamemode.
City Dom - 3 heavy, 2 logi and 1 scout Open space dom - 1 heavy, 2 scouts, 1assault/commando, 1 logi and 1 tank/ADS
Skirmish: it depends on the points you want to hold.
Situational awareness also known as passive scan.

I only play dust514ums now. It was always more fun than the actual game anyways.

Its my ideal skirmish squad.
Fly in, drop everyone on top of the point, set uplink, pilot switches to the missile launcher, once the point is secure, pick squad up, fly to next point, repeat.
The minmando also has the option of sticking in the gunner seat instead of the pilot switching.

I'm not sure which equipment I'd want to give up for an uplink. I suppose the scout could give his needle up, but then I think he might be the only one to survive if the team were out and out killed because of his speed and cloak. Where would you put the link in this squad? Maybe on the Logi, and then have the Assault carry the back up hive (and lose his needle?)

For competitive play, I like to think in 4, 4 man squads.
squad 1 squad 2 squad 3 squad 4
Squad 1: Mobile Squad - outdoors + vehicle users to get around Amarr Commando bricktanked with SCR + Swarms (Uplink) Gallente Commando Bricktanked with Tar + Plasma cannon (Uplink) Minmatar Commando Bricktanked with Combat Rifle + Swarms (Remote Explosives) Minmatar Logi With Mass-driver, (Repair Tool, Gauged Nanohives, fast scanner- for detecting the presence of scouts, even a margin of error puts their eyeballs searching, nanite injector)
Squad 2 : Holds second point (not home point or contested point, indoors) Amarr Commando Bricktanked With SCR + MD (Uplink) Amarr Commando Bricktanked with SCR + MD (Uplink) Amarr Commando Bricktanked with SCR + CR (Remote Explosives) Minmatar Logi with CR (Repair Tool, Gauged Nanohives, Fast Scanner, Nanite Injector)
