Perhaps no grenade, I mean they can cloak! I saw a guy get SGed to the back by a cloaky commando. :/
Anyway there would also be the problem that vehicles would become useless for anything other than transporting people from A to B. I really don't want to see HAVs disappear, and no I am not a Tanker

I think they need to lose their damage bonus to be given to the assaults; and get ammo and magazine bonus in spades for their preferred weapon type.
Also swarms needs to come in 4 flavors.

Why they don't:
Original Commando is Amarr who don't have a grenade and rare long range.
The original reason was they had to drop the made to fit the second Light weapon.

But vehicles are getting overhauled and super tanks will be returning to the battlefield.

I have almost every match with 2 or 3 tankers on the enemy team. I don't think tanks would disappear.

I regularly run gal commando, standard to proto suits depending on the match and prefer to think of the commando as a support role with the assault as the primary offensive force. Often running with dual plasma cannons. I would rather that commando was changed/improved in a direction away from the standard assault role.
Artillery role with plasma cannons and mass drivers, AV with swarms and long range combat with sniper rifles. My only concern is the reload bonus which only start to make a difference after putting lots of skill points into the suit.
The commando is not currently made for CQC and therefore has no need of the grenade slot. He is big, is slow, has low ewar skills and comparable low ehp. I get slaughtered going up close, but keeping a distance he is fearsome with one complex damage mod with total 17% damage bonus, a plc and tac, or dual plc. |

The Gallente Commando is made for CQC since all currently available Gallente tech is good for CQC.

the reason they lack a grenade slot was because of them having the two weapons. you want a grenade? slap on a massdriver. sure it sucks but its how the role was built so suck it up and deal with it unfortunatly. we can't have everything. i'd like a sentinel with a 2hr cloak that can fire his 20,000hp forge gun while cloaked and run 15m/s and laughing off scouts that try to kill me with my 10,000shields and 80,000armour with 99% resists against all weapons but hey. i have a minmatar 'warlord', s**t happens
