I love tanks on the field even if redlined by the other team.
It provides a much more dynamic and unpredictable environment, having four HAVs is no insurance for winning. Yesterday our team had four HAVs with some infantry as passengers, three snipers and only three foot soldiers left to capture the domination letter. The other team had two, maybe three swarm launchers that kept the tanks away all match, we lost big time. Next match the other team had four HAVs and completely destroyed my team.
Overall the tanks are in a descent balance, I can go 8/0 in a cheap 71k isk soma while I in other matches are insta gibbed beginning of the match by another much more skilled tanker (I can only use basic stuff). It might be that a mlt swarmer keeps my cheap soma at a distance but at the same time I force the other team to dedicate one resource as anti AV.
As long as tanks are cheap I am fine by having them blown up fairly easy if not being careful.
And most important:
The wp bonus for damaging vehicles positively influence the number of infantry deciding to spawn with AV even if they have no chance of destroying the skilled tank driver. My dual plc basic commando can in some matches get close to 1500-2000 wp with only a handful of kills, all wp gained from shooting at vehicles of all kinds keeping them away from my team.
Only change I would like to see is better small turrets and decrease the infantry kill potential of the large turrets. Have the large turrets be mainly anti vehicle/structure and the small turrets for anti infantry. That would force tankers to either have high defensive power from the modules as the gunnlogi today and close to zero threat towards infantry or lower defense but a major threat towards infantry with two additional gunners inside. Or somewhere between with only one small turret. How rare is it not to see a gunnlogi that actualy have small turrets installed. |

Whenever I am bored enough to come back to Dust I always farm infantry. I don't really do much else. Just queue for OMS and Domination Matches. More often than not I'll see another tank on the field and might get a good fight out of it.....otherwise it's basically back to the biomass grinder.
I've recently been comparing myself to Duna in terms of how much of douche I think I am except I've decided I'm worse since I don't care about ISK or KDR and will keep calling in tanks.....

frustrates me when this happens on accounts other than my main (this one) as I have proto FG 3 complex damage mods and prof 5, I will destroy any and every tank and waste as much ISK as it takes.
but it always happens in a 144K proto suit on an account with no AV.
I don't know why I should be forced to spec into AV on every single one of my accounts.
anyway when against any tank remember, nothing but the best AV should be used.
Eenka from Reptoids pissed me off by mounting my tank and running my module down, shooting me whilst I couldn't shoot him, he was in the next game so I held him in the redline all game until he recalled his tank.
there's nothing more satisfying than farming 1000s of WP from tanks and letting them get ZERO kills the entire game
