Note: This is not a complaint towards DUST or a petition for a mass migration. It is simply a survey to gather information about all those willing to make a DUST-oriented community in Planetside 2. I am also aware this could have been posted in the locker room, but I wish to gain the attention of DUST's biggest sub-forum. If you do not wish to participate, you don't have to!
I've spoken with several other corp leaders and old vets of DUST, and we've come to an agreement that there needs to be a DUST community Planetside 2 outfit. The reason for this is there is a great amount of skilled players in DUST 514, as well as those that have moved on to PS4. It would simply be better for all of us to migrate to one bigger outfit in Planetside 2. The name has still been undecided, but some names were more preferred than others.
I will create a straw poll using the most recommended names for the game, and will also take requests for new ones and make another one at a later date.
If you would be interested in joining a DUST-oriented community in hopes of playing PS2 competitively, please /sign this thread.

Yep, a lot of people just want to stick with their own guys.
Our main goal is to create a DUST-side community within Planetside 2, not only for the sake of familiar faces, but also to create a competitive environment. We want to jump in and do very well, immediately.

Yes, similar to an alliance. In DUST, an alliance is broken into three parts: The alliance, the corporations within the alliance and the squads within those corporations. In an outfit, there are platoons within the outfit, and then there are squads.
Players will still, of course, play with who they know within the alliance, and also get a chance to create even new friendships with characters on DUST they may have not known well, or not known at all.

We'll also be having another poll for the faction decided. This is for the community of DUST, by the community of DUST.
I'd prefer Terran as Vanu and Conglomerate tend to always be winning, and I think we have the coordination to actually make a difference in that aspect.

The thing is...
Completely new hardware = Almost totally new playerbase, very few PS2 vets will be on PS4 = Completely new Meta
For all we know, the VS or NC will be underdogs, while the TR are stomping like SVER...

The NC are popular because they are the rebel faction. People are always a sucker for the underdogs. VS because it seems to be the most advanced or "enlightened". I think a reason the Terran Republic is often kind of referred to as the communists of planetside. I think a lot of players will be new and will choose a faction that they think is "the coolest", considering that this is aimed at a console demographic.
And I don't think Terran is the coolest, nor do I think it will be OP again. But as I said, we'll have a poll on it.

i thought it was just the closed beta was dropping in january, i was guessing the full release would be by like summer of 2015? or do you have more info?
well i have XCOM and this until then.. i will probably fly a dropship for Terran Republic as my primary role.. i used to drive a Sunderer/armored bus in PS1.
i played some PS2 on my nephews laptop. the reds i encountered were not that impressive as far as CQC skill went and i shot down a really bad pilot.. they seemed like they were playing in a lower gear than dust players do, they seemed over reliant on defense and were easy to flank.

As for my roll in PS2? Same as I was in BF3. Infiltrator. Run an advance scout for the main force with a Semi-Auto sniper and some recon tools. Possibly light assault as a backup.

Most games slayers are the way to go. But in ps2 we gonna spam the hell out of vehicles, hopefully I can make my transfer from pc to console control wise.

Start practicing now bro! Use the sticks when your on PC to get the hang of it. Just make sure you cut off the deadzone. Vote on the poll, because it's coming down pretty close between Vanu and Terran. Nobody wants to be NC, as of now.

Honestly, the Vanu are the only ones I can sympathize with.
The NC are all about freedoms and personal liberties and independence. And thats cool. But they are also pretty bigoted. They discriminate against the Vanu because they aren't "purely human".
The TR are Fascists. Totalitarian control and draconian laws? No thanks. No amount of security is worth that.
The VS just want to further the progress of humanity. To them, that means adopting alien technology into their lives and bodies. And good for them. If that's what they want, cool.

I have a Mac and a PS3... and I am not willing to buy equipment to play Planetside 2... although I did buy the PS3 specifically to play DUST.
Maybe once Legion goes to Beta, and I have purchased a PC to play it... then I might give Planetside 2 a try.

For all we know, the VS or NC will be underdogs, while the TR are stomping like SVER...
The NC are popular because they are the rebel faction. People are always a sucker for the underdogs. VS because it seems to be the most advanced or "enlightened". I think a reason the Terran Republic is often kind of referred to as the communists of planetside. I think a lot of players will be new and will choose a faction that they think is "the coolest", considering that this is aimed at a console demographic. And I don't think Terran is the coolest, nor do I think it will be OP again. But as I said, we'll have a poll on it.

There answer is in the fundamental philosophies of each group.

lol i can remember when i was this excited waiting til i could play dust beta.. i'm looking forward to a match that doesn't end i hate that standard already.. PS1 was my favorite game of all time i spent 3 years in.. really no way PS2 can let me down. sometimes you didnt even fight the enemy you just clowned around with your buddies in between battles.. this one time the devs were trying to bomb us with like meteors that i was dodging in our sanctuary because i was ramming friendly vehicles during some kind of lull where we lost an entire continent.. in PS1 you could kill a couple blueberries an hour if someone pist you off and there were duels between blues.. i killed a blue one time riding shotgun who made a negative remark about my driving.

Was fun back then. The best thing about PS2 is the fact that sheer numbers can balance out the skill factor. You could have 48 great players, but have the fight of your life trying to take a base with 96. I'm sure it won't be too hard to find some decent fights.

Dude thats how all beta's are done. If you are worth knowing and can hype up a lot more people for the product then you are in.
For example as soon as the Bloodborne Alpha sign ups went live I signed up. Every Youtuber who made content for Dark Souls or Dark Souls 2 was instantly allocated a ticket in as well as two reviewers who manage Fextralife from the forum.
It's not luck that of all the people on the forum who signed on to the Alpha that two community managers and active article providers were selected for the testing. Now I'm not actually even bitter about that, its the smart way to play it, and keeps those dude who will be making them content and addressing a wider fan base happy.

Mhmmmm I hope it's not a hugely long period of time for that opening beta period. A game that was supposed to be released on ps4 a year ago.. Don't keep them hopes up =ƒÿ¡ This. I have definitely reduced my expectations accordingly. DA:I here I come! dude, DA:I is one of the best games on the PS4. Definitely got the most enjoyment out of it. Just as good, if not, better than Mass Effect.

No Tali means not a good game. Also Dragon Age II and the way it sucked ass really put me off Dragon Age as a franchise. Origins was amazing...... the follow up concepts of Mages vs Templars is a city no one cares about and now Chantry vs Demons is meh......
However if Dragon Age Inquisition is set in Orlais I might pick it up. Orlais sounds like an interesting place.

I played Origins but thankfully missed DA II.
It definitely feels a lot like DA:O, and I have heard from people that played the second some of the good aspects of it are present in Inquisition.
I just know I am greatly enjoying it at 40 to 50 hrs in still.

I'll give it a try.... but looking at the companions I can't say I'm as thrilled or likely attached to them as I was the DA:O group.
