I have done everything to try and squeeze more performance out of my PS3.
My last step was to upgrade to a crucial 256 GB SSD, which I completed this morning.
Results (regarding Dust 514):
- Graphics load quickly and look sharp. I can use high detail with absolutely no pixelation.
- Framerate is still as slow as ever, with regular object warping and such.
- Dust gameplay is still the same old laggy piece of poo.
Mythbuster: I heard reports that using a SSD allowed maps to load faster and therefore place you into battle quickly at the beginning of the match. I did not experience this. I am still placed into battle at various times at the beginning of the match.
Rating: 1/10. Did not make a significant difference in gameplay. Still feels like I'm wading through molasses and wrestling with a tar baby.
