Gallente Assault 5 vs. Amarr Assault 5
- TAR's better in CQC due to tighter spread, less hipfire recoil, more damage, much better finishing ability, no chance of overheating.
- Now they both have similar reload intervals: TAR - 24 rounds before reload SCR - 21-24 rounds before overheat (and reload)
SCR can overheat but reloads faster
SCR's maybe better at range due to having more range, charge shot, more visibility down scope.
TAR's not far behind due to more damage, better finishing, and more zoom....but maybe has more ADS kick/spread?
And the TAR misfires occasionally when rapid fired right?
Anyone out there using both a fair amount? |

The SCR has much(much) better range than the TAR. The charge ability also allows it to take out pesky RR users in no time.

You also have to take into account the fact that you can do an Alpha Charge Shot with the ScR, which you can't with the TAr.

Within the range however the tar users have a nice advantage.

Think of it like this:
The TAR is consistent and more for those who do not possess the skill to operate a heat-weapon.
The SCR is an inconsistent power-hammer that rewards those who can manage heat and can most frequently land headshots because SCR headshot multiplier be like pew pew.

ScR has the same exact headshot multiplier than the TAC.

It seems like people think the ScR has stats it doesn't... And its being balanced areounf nonexistent stats.
******* stupid.
The TacAR is just straight up better than the ScR at the moment. Period. There are no circumstances where id consider the ScR to be a better gun to be using. None. Not even against Caldari suits. The TacAR does similar Shield DPS.

Also, OP. The ScR can't fire 21-24 rounds. Its 18-23. Depending on your level of Amassault. More false atribution that's leading to this myth that the ScR is OP...

I was fine with the previous clip of the TAC AR.
Why did they have to turn my baby into a scrubs weapon.
Take the buff back dammit.

The charge shot is useless without Amarr Assault, you get 4 shots after the charge and then you overheat and watch the enemy melee you.

Honestly, it doesn't need to be reverted back to what it was. I personally think it would be well balanced with a 20 or 21 round mag.
24 is just too high, though. It trivializes the Amassault bonus. A ScR with Amassault 5 should be able to fire more rounds in a volley than the TacAR has in its mag. It doesn't need to be a lot more, just 1-2 rounds will do, but the Amassault bonus needs to make the ScR obviously better than the Tac.

You can't compare the two without factoring in the CR as well.
Tac is okay, but SCR and CR are better for more versatile situations

What? No.
They aren't comparable weapons. Burst=/=Semiautomatic
And yes, CRs are more versatile, than both actually. Comes with being a burst weapon. They are versatile.

You also have to remember +20% damage the SCR does to shields as oppose to only +10% from the TAR
Shield tanking is hard mode /period.

That's the range advantage the ScR has over the TAC. Stfu. lol much (much) = 6m lmfao Don't forget optimal range, which is the range within which your weapon is doing 100% damage. The only value given to us on google docs is effective (falloff) range, which is the range beyond optimal in which your weapon is doing 99%-30% damage. In this thread...
https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2542218#post2542218
...a guy claims that the TAR's optimal range is 65m, whereas the SCR's is 75m. A 10m difference in optimal is significant, especially if you're charge shotting distant RR users.
Optimal range is much more important than effective range. In fact effective range alone is a very misleading number. If the SCR's optimal is 75m and its effective is 96m, then it's doing 100% dmg up to 75m and then decreasing in damage by 3.33% per meter up to 96m, at which point it's doing 30% dmg. That's a whole lot different than just having a range of 96m. Thanks CCP for misleading a large part of the community all this time and being too lazy to publish weapons' optimal ranges anywhere ever.
Apparently you can easily determine the optimal range of rifles and sidearms by aiming at an installation and walking backwards until efficiency starts to drop below 100%. Whatever distance you're at from it then is that gun's optimal range.
I respecced out of AR so I can't compare but if someone could do this with TAR and SCR it would be super helpful. |

So the TAR has the advantage in damage profile. +20%/-20% is crap. I've been lobbying for a while to have laser dmg profile changed to +15%/-15%. It just makes good sense, and after the CR dmg profile change it also good symmetry. |
