I'm proud of them actually.
Not for interfering with my Dust time of course, but for trumping The System.
They aren't going to get caught if they know what they're doing. Fk ISK, they will get paid in BTC and make out.
This also goes to show just how silly the concept of 100% conversion to centralized console gaming networks truly is. Not only are these dudes going to make bank, they just further established why PC gaming is here to stay, and is growing.
Those motherfkers took life by the horns and won. They get a big round of applause from me.

Them being able to tie up the networks like this, also goes to show just how silly the concept of 100% conversion to centralized console gaming networks truly is. Those motherfkers took life by the horns and won. They get a big round of applause from me. You realize the ps4 and xbox 1 ARE cheap pcs right? Why do you hate on consoles gtf out let me enjoy my vice and you can enjoy yours. Why the hate for consoles
lol i have no hate for consoles. Were it not for SMB on my old NES, I wouldn't be a gamer today.
I just don't like the way Sony and M$ handle business for their consoles. PSN and Live have always been a bad idea to me. The major problems with how they run those networks has always been glaringly flawed, from PSN repeated hacks, to now everyone being locked out of the games they want to play.
I'm of the opinion that PSN, should have never been so overreaching to begin with, that so "simple" a means of interference could cause this.
Let it work like Steam or Origin on PC instead. Let games connect to game servers independently, and if someone wants to sign into PSN for added features, that's their choice. Sony and M$ are just so obsessed with having everyone and everything on lock... It annoys me.
And now it's costing them.
So I just refuse to support them. And I hope Lizard Squad squeezes the fk out of the networks as long as possible til everyone gets the point that the system needs to change.
Was playing Star Citizen today. Arena Commander 1.0 came out, so I honestly don't GAF. But I'm not tied to a network.
Centralizing the games like this was always a bad idea, and this situation we're in today, is why.

lol....
They're not trying to get rid of console gaming man.
There's nothing wrong with console gaming itself.
For all intents and purposes, Lizard just saw a huge flaw with how these networks were run, and for shltz and lolz they blasted the fk out of them.
What's important to take note of are the implications.
The very function of PSN and Live. The exclusives, and games that can only be accessed through them.
Understand, CCP is just fine. TQ server is just fine. There's literally no reason why your Playstation can't connect to TQ, other than because of PSN. PSN should be totally unnecessary to the process. That's all I'm saying. lol
I'm just laughing at how so many defended these centralized networks as a 'form of gaming', meanwhile it's doing nothing but being humiliated right now. It's not a form of gaming, it's a form of control, and it has no been flipped right on its head.

I think that they made a fool out of a lot of people and caused enough trouble . You guys need to do some research on how DDoS works. The Bot-net or Zombie computers take the heat.. It would be near impossible to track down who is controling the computers. Worse is that Russia has had a cyber criminal economy that is established for 20 years... You can rent Bot-net's from them for a few hundred dollars... For them to be singled out and caught would be literally like winning the lottery. The only way to stop it... is to upgrade the server infrastructures and revamp net-code... Which is kinda their point.. These corporations operate in our countries making vast profit margins and paying next to no tax because of large corporate loop holes that they have spent collectively millions of dollars to create... at the same time not investing into the infrastructure of the very services they are selling us that largely aren't fully in place or are inadequate...
Yes. So much this.
Surprised you even bothered to go into that little bit of detail.

Those motherfkers took life by the horns and won. They get a big round of applause from me. But it wasn't their original intention to trump the system and expose security issues, it was their intention to ruin the experience of the players, hence why it was staged on such a busy day like Christmas. If it was really their intention to target the companies on behalf of the people they wouldn't have accepted the bribe. From what I've read from the beginning it was all 'For the lulz' now it's for the 'Consumer'. Anyone who hails these people for their actions is no better than them, what you've just announced to everyone is that you're proud of criminals, congratz.
Depends on the criminal and the "crime". Some criminals are indeed worthy of praise, and these even more so. Law and Might don't make right. Hit the damn companies in the nose. Why should anyone gaf if you can't play a video game for a few days? lol Regardless of their motivations, would anyone actually have taken them seriously if they said they were doing it "for the people"? LOL Of course not, so you just take action and let the rain fall where it will. No better time to do that than THIS time of year. This whole thing is perfect for the very reasons you say it's bad.
Sony and M$ have a stupid series of systems going, and someone just showed them how easy that house of cards could be knocked over. The law be damned. Their actions are going to serve all the sanctimonious snobs out there in the long run anyway. It was a dirty job, and somebody had to do it.
They made their disturbance, brought juggernauts to their knees, and are going to make off for it if they're smart. What's there not to like about these guys, other than them interfering with your game time?

It's not a form of gaming, it's a form of control, and it has no been flipped right on its head. Jathniel has a point. Sonny and MS wanted complete control over their gaming empires, and in setting up that tight control they made their gaming platforms vulnerable.
Yes.
CCP can't patch the Dust client without going through PSN. You can't get to Dust without going through PSN. You can't buy AUR, without going through PSN.
(You can't take a **** without going through PSN. Wait no no!That was patched this afternoon!) Then when PSN is hit, and down. Everything stops.
That centralization on PSN is the problem. Not to mention maintenance concerns that Beth mentioned earlier.
They sold many players on this centralized gaming network, and the last couple days showed exactly why it was a bad idea. But this was proven before as well. PSN outages are something people are almost used to now. Don't know how many times I've heard friends go, "PSN is down again??" If they don't learn from this situation, and change the fundamental function of PSN to something more passive like maybe Steam, the next major DDoS attack is going to be worse.
What are the fundamental reasons why Sony and M$ REQUIRE players to go through their network first, BEFORE being connected to the proper game server? Anyone know? 1 million isk.
