I must admit that I have serious problems taking any religious person seriously at all.
There is off course the obious bits like "These guys believe the world is 12 000 years old" or indeed take any example of the many profoundly stupid, ignorant and obviously "only put there cause it was written nearly 2000 years ago" bits of the book. Off course, lets skip all that, cause you know, we now chose to ignore all the "unfortunate" parts of the book, they where never true in the first place anyway. So the holy book is by many believers thought to be "partially true", which is sort of odd, seing that its supposed to be holy and all.... So if some of it is not true, what makes you so sure that the rest of it is true?
No the point mentioned above is the mere obvious part, the part that really grinds my gear is this:
I believe, therefore I will go to heaven, the rest of you lot who does not believe as I do, you will burn in hell for eternity!
I mean, come on. Living your life with such a notion in your head. "Me and my special little club have the right answer and we will enjoy eternal bliss for it. The rest will burn, forever!" For me, meeting people that has this belief and I will say attitude towards other human beings is what I call a mindfock. Its just, impossible for me to picture myself in their position, the level of self elevation is insane, the level off diss-respect for other human beings also so. In my opinion you are all either very very evil, or merely brainwashed by 2000 years of history and possibly your parents/community.
Shame on you all, I pity the lot of you, I really do. You are all very welcome to "the (en)light(ened) side", the side of reason and independent thoughts, the side of understanding, respect and love for your fellow humans, move away from the dogmatic evils of religion and lose your superiority complexes, embrase the light and start to love, do not follow a belief system that condems (more or less) 80% of the human population to suffer for eternity due to not having the same opinion as you do. Shame on you all.

@ Calvin B:
You got it wrong, its not about "there is no God". Its all about: "I do not know".
If good evidence for Gods excistence would show itself we would not deny it.
Believeing blindly in what the un-educated and comparably primitive people of 2000 years ago believed and put down in a book several hundred years later edited by a bunch of officials down to its current form, seems to me to be very foolish indeed...
I do not expect a rational answer to this, but I have to ask: Why do you believe in God?

@ Calvin B again, I can-¦t quote, the forum just crashes, for 2 posts up...:
Thats quite an exclusive love eh?
Believe in me or sod off!
I feel sorry for you man, I really do.
Even here, as most religious nuts you quote some scripture that on the surface seems good and comforting instead of actually ansvering/explaining the ones MC quoted above. Good job dude.

Stuff turns out well = only possible explanation is that there must be a God
Does this mean that if stuff did not work out well for you, there is no God? Or would you simply say: "God has made me suffer, its all in his plan to make me humble and ready for...."
I fail to see the validity of your reasoning.
In any case, I would recuire hard evidence, not merely luck.
Speaking of which, I have been in 2 serious car crashes, in the first I was the only one without a scratch, although they took 19 Xrays of my head, the other 2 had bits and pieces broken off. In the secon crsah I hit a mountai side dead on in an old Mazda Pickup with 1200 KG in the back in 80 KP/H, that was really scary! This time too, a mere bruise on a foot, otherwise ok. I found pieses of tiny glass on my body 5 days later...
Not trying to up you here, I merely wanna say that you-¦re not the only one, I for one, did not "see the hand of God" just cause I survived stuff that I probably shouldn-¦t.
Anyways, you are obviously comfortable with the fact that you will go to heaven and Atheists like myself will burn eternally in hell, thanks a lot for embracing this "loving" religion.
