Yeah I agree. Our capability is greatly reduced because some tryhard cant stand the idea of someone in a heavy suit getting the occasional 10WP. Instead of coming up with a half and half solution (equipment stays, but WP is not collected), we just get shut down completely.
The logic was its "to improve framerate and stop spam", but we have since seen neither has happened. Now the real reasons seems to be "pick a role and keep it".
If thats the case, the logi community should push for more restrictions on suit switching. You shouldn't be able to switch from a scout to a double swarm commando and then back. Or an assault that runs up to a depot and switches to a HMG to attack approaching enemies. If picking a role and keeping it is so important, we should make sure everyone else is held to it too. |

I wish they could make elevated uplinks require more bandwidth.
I saw a dude single handedly ruin a pub the other day. He kept throwing out uplinks on high. Blues were spawning on the 5 or 6 uplinks randomly. Spreading out the team and they were getting farmed as they dropped down. Most just stayed up there. I saw a dude shooting an SMG from about 200 meters on a tower.
I tried getting proper uplinks out but the crap uplinks spread everyone out too much. My uplinks would killed killed quickly. No place to push from.
I messaged the dude afterward and he couldn't see how damaging they were to the match.
Its not always an easy solution. When its a situation like that, its clear one team outskills the other, so its a question of jumping off towers or a question of trying to push out of the redline. When the skill difference is that big, trying to be strategic and putting uplinks feet away from an objective just leads to the uplink being farmed.
I think if Dust balances matching making more, you will see this problem much less, as both teams would have players ready to push in addition to stragglers. You have to fix the real problem instead of fixing the symptoms. If you fix just the symptoms, they resurface as something else.
Case and point? Change bandwidth for high links, and you could still have a bandwidth free dropship CRU hovering over a roof pouring people out. Especially on line harvest, i can be sitting in the dropship in the middle of the roof, unreachable by ground AV, with the CRU online. |

I think this attitude (high uplinks/uplink spam are annoying and make the game less fun) comes from me playing a mercenary, not a janitor. I dont want to be compelled to either deal with people in a dominant position that I have to bring out a certain vehicle and a heavy suit for just to clear it. And this happens every minute or so. Its just not fun. I dont want to clean up messes all game, I want to shoot people and have fun.
Well im tired of the attitude of "punish punish punish". You dont want uplinks up high? Cool. You know what I want? To be able to spawn without people shooting me before my screen even loads. You know what else? Id like to not spend the whole game in the redline.
People insist on running in 6 person squads. They insist on using proto. How am I supposed to get 15 players, most of them worse than me, to the objective?
All you have are punishments, and no solutions. So im asking, what is your alternative? How do i get this vastly outmatched team to keep pushing? Cause I guarantee you, if you lock us in the redline, you will see very few people outside the MCC.
I await your alternative. |

Well, i feel that by giving new/inexperienced players a less vulnerable vantage point near the front lines, it gives them some time to look around and learn some maps and movements. Even if hes scoping around with a militia sniper rifle, hes still seeing where installations are and ect.
It would be detrimental to make a player like that run out of the redline into ambushes all game. They would probably just quit. Telling people "do it this way or just quit" is what brought the game to its knees. Its not good at all for the NPE.
IAmDuncanIdaho II wrote:Best solution I have to this is to try break free of your redline and get a couple links down far away. You might need a fast suit for this.
Well, since im not allowed to switch to a scout suit for speed/jumping anymore, i have very few options; Run, LAV, Dropship. Running in a logi suit out of a camped red line is a joke. LAVs get broken by double swarm comandos, that leaves dropship. And the only place I can guarantee that i wont have to go place links again in 30 seconds is some kind of rooftop.
IAmDuncanIdaho II wrote: Thing is, a bad team is a bad team. As soon as they start spawnng. ..If they start spawning...reds will come down on them if they're just blundering around. Solution...get a squad? Run around ninja? Leave battle? Get on team comms?
Gee, if thats the mentality, scrap the entire FPS aspect of it and just make it a numbers simulator. Im trying to give a chance for a bad team to gain experience and get better. I agree with you that a team destined to lose will most of the time. But this is a game, its supposed to be fun. Losing should still be somewhat fun. Making people walk out of the redline single file and lay themselves down for your KDR is hardly fun.
Your solutions are also invalid. Public contracts says "for lone mercenaries or small squads". So being forced into a squad so that you can be a servant for someone is not an option. Quitting? It would be funny if people followed that advice and all bailed as soon as a PC grade squad showed up. They would have no games to play.
And comms....lol thats a funny one. So I can hear peoples TVs, people smoke their weed and brag about it, people eat food, blast the most radical sounding music they can find, rage when they die...yeah...no lol. I can do without the showboating from 16 year olds and grown men acting like 16 year olds.
TL;DR Your "solutions" are not valid, as they dont solve anything and instead just encourages people to become part of the problem. |
