It all depends what weapons you want to run. Simple.
Go ahead and fit a proto PLC and sidearm to the Amarr Assault and see how well it fares against my Gal Assault with PLC.
I have Amarr Assault level 5 and Gallente Assault level 3 (currently skilling back into it since I dropped it in 1.8 DSC respec). I like both suits but use them for different (secret) things.

Well that's because the Amarr used to be the Dual tank power houses, but since shields have been inferior for over a year now the amarrian players begged rattatai to make them armor tanks like the gallente, using Eve as a justification. We lost diversity but whatever... I guess as long as our dropsuits act like spaceships... wait what? I mean really though, I love how modern navies and armies are identical. I mean obviously what works in space would work in land warfare right? Couldn't possibly be diverse. In all seriousness, right now we have two near identical races because the gallente can't actually be armor reppers without being broken. I guess also because Minmitar would rather be speed dual tanks then shield regenerators, as we realize how stupidly broken that would be as well. The matar are the wild cards not the Amarr.
Well yeah, not anymore the Amarr are not. Used to be more flexible before amarr player's pushed to be armor tanks like the Gallente. If you look at the difference between Gallente and Amarr, then look at the difference between Caldari, Minmitar, and Gallente, the Amarr might as well be identical to the Gallente. We are talking the same slot layouts with near identical base values...
Only reason I care right now is because Rattatai keeps balancing the game around the meta. So since there are more armor races than shield based races, he keeps buffing shield profiled weapons. |

The Amarr and Gallente are basically the same in Eve slot wise the only difference is bonuses and base stats. And the reason why we spear headed for a change was because 1. EVE 2. Dual tanking shouldn't be a thing 3. Our slots progression natural leaned towards armor.

You can say what you want I've seen the same arguments over and over and I still maintain you only say these things because the meta favors your style. Take Minmitar for example, we used to be shield tanks that were inferior to Caldari. This made min assaults useless. Caldari are pretty useless themselves, pure shield tanking they just can't survive, hence why they all dual tank now too. Although shield tanking could be fixed with a recharge delay damage threshold like what vehicles have.
All I hear from your 3 points in reality is:
1. Armor tanking is better, and Eve justifies why my suits should be armor tanked. 2. Dual tanking shouldn't be a thing, because armor tanking is better so I'd rather just be the best. 3. Our slot progression naturally leaned towards armor, because we had it changed to 2/4 and 3/5 instead of 3/4 and 4/4 because armor tanking is better. |
