Dust514 being designed for console players who want that "quick battle" experience with basic key features- PVE, player trading, planetary conquest...
Meanwhile Legion would be the pie in the sky stuff- being able to play the market, massive battles, planet interaction, exploration, emergent gameplay, sabotage/murder while in walking in stations mode, docking a drop ship on a player piloted MCC in space, owning assets in space...
They could, I guess, co-exist and different clients that let players access the same world, but you can only accomplish so much in the console version.
Then again... CCP has been pretty silent on Legion, so for all we know, they could already consider Dust 514 the new Legion since development on Dust514 has really picked up lately, but... Nobody knows... Just speculation and honestly, it seems unlikely because it'd be ridiculously and unnecessarily complicated...
I would be fine with this.
Maybe making Legion the eve-ship boarding kind of game, and DUST the (boots on the ground, planetary resources) kind of thing. Maybe make it important to hold lands that give you planetary resources that are very valuable, thus making corps with a good DUST-side corporation more rich and successful.
Give us the dumbed down version with better graphics just to keep us happy (just re-do some of the mechanics please) and then give Legion all the cool **** (Titan-boarding, moving MCCs, advanced player and salvage market, better engine).
I would be totally good with this, make both important, but one simply better.

f2p games are popular on PS4, just saying.
I am playing war thunder and war frame on ps4 myself too.
I dont think moving to PC is a smart move but I will not go further in detail regarding that, anyone with brain should see why, no need to discuss that. |

I won't get another PS3 just for this game, but I do wish to play it again so what are the chances of Eve: Legion or DUST coming to PS4? This game is making quite a bit of money and is clearly moving in the right direction, so what are the chances of a port?
With absolutely no evidence I would say the chances are pretty good. Somewhere in the 50/50 area.
DUST is clearly an excellent game with money spinning potential. We keep hearing that it's picking up after the doom and gloom of last year's fanfest. And I agree gameplay wise - although obviously it's hard for us to tell numbers wise.
Now if LEGION gets off the ground and the PC crowd take to it with the vigour they all say they will - a PS4 port is quite frankly a no brainer. Especially as Destiny is a load of overhyped meh.
If DUST keeps making money and LEGION launches well - I would expect LEGION PS4 less than a year later.

If that's dead, then is Legion gonna be PC only and just leave consoles in the DUST? I would be fine with an updated, higher frame-rate DUST with better hit detection and effects (sounds too) on PS4. Seriously, I don't think the devs should have abandoned ship. Rattati is really steering this in the right direction. CCP said that if it works well on PC they might consider doing it on current gen consoles. I really do hope they release it on PS4, I'll be able to actually see those fuckin' swarms and forges.

I kind of hope it does, assuming it'll be everything Dust wanted to be and beyond. I wouldn't talk about Legion until 2018 at the least, though. Everyone knows it was announced because Dust was dying back then and they needed to show SOMETHING during the keynote. It was way ahead of time for no real reason. |

oh yay, we're back to this again
lets try this one more time....
CCP have stated that they're not developing for the new consoles as of yet as can be read HERE
Also its not up to CCP wether they decide to release on the PS4, XB1, Wii U or any other console. CCP can develop the game all they want for a console but if the owning company say 'No' then its a 'No'
Getting license to use the game engine on a console is also entirely different than on PC, again CCP can develop the game using Unreal or Cryengine but if they owning companies say no then again they can't do anything with it. a good example of this and the difficulties a company can face can be found HERE
DUST514 doesn't have the best reputation in the gaming world and CCP as a company have had a bit of a rough patch with projects being cancelled and staff redundancies. at least on PC they can develop for a system they're comfortable and familiar with and with virtually no restrictions and EVE players don't have to go buy a new system to play it.
CCP can take time away from consoles with Legion, develop it, build a playerbase up and hopefully if/when people begin to forget the (iin the industrys eyes) failure of DUST514 they can start to look at selling it to a console again.

I'd be fine if both existed but didn't affect each other though, Dust being that lobby shooter on the ps4 but hugely improved since the ps4 is able to do much much more. Pub battles with many more modes than we've been stuck with for way too long and private battles for teams and for a few that want to train people or test things out.
Meanwhile Legion being everything that Dust was suppose to be where we can have an impact on New Eden on the ground and in space. Huge battles like this : http://youtu.be/Gw0gOjOWDuI on the ground. And in space : http://youtu.be/yFTUazuGdTw. For Faction Warfare and wars between player corps.
Should Legion be on the ps4?

One thing CCP has always done well is marketing. They know how to sell a vision. If CCP has a marketing department, that department definitely knows the demographics of their client base. Dust 514 had some of the best trailers and advertisements I had ever seen for any game. I never fell for Destiny hype. I never fell for any hype really. But I fell hard for Dust way back at the initial E3 presentation, and every trailer since. I was disappointed that it wasn't on PC, but I salivated for this game.
That said, I've seen every single fk up with Dust since the beginning. Every single one. From it not playing as advertised, to its inevitable de-prioritization and in time eventual cancellation.
I really am disappointed that Rattati and the current Dust Team are not the ones working on Legion, because honestly after everything, I only trust their judgment. Let the current Dust Team lead development on Legion, and I'd say go ahead and start putting out trailers for Legion. Sell the vision again, because THIS time you will DELIVER.
If Legion is being worked on, I can only pray that the Legion Team has a competent leader. All things considered, Legion being on PS4, would seriously depend on its success on PC.
I love Warframe, and I am happy that it's wildly successful. Warframe is available on Xbox now by demand, and because of how awesome it is. Warframe is a great game, but it needed the PC to get that success. Warframe has won competitions for being the best F2P game in existence, and the best of all time. But it took careful planning to achieve.
The same could be true for Legion. (I have no opposition against a sub for it like EVE) The same could be true for Dust.

They need to really rethink the concept as a whole, in my opinion. The dropsuits are cool and a great idea, but there is such a huge difference between the suits that offer no real other advantages than just different means of killing. Scouts are gankers, assaults are eHP tanking strafe-douchebags, heavies are damage-soakers and damage dealers.
In order for legion to succeed, they need to add more variation in the classes and give them a real role. Only this dropsuit can pilot this, only this class can use this, etc, etc. The closest we have to that is the heavy only being able to wield heavy weapons.
Oh, and removing the HMG is a wonderful idea for Legion. The heavy HMG + logi combo was a bad idea from the start. Don't let people get accustomed to it, never develop it. Make it similar to planetside 2 in TTK, leave medics as they are and give heavies a different role.
