I love dust, but my issue has to be lag, I lag so much with framerate! I use to have terrible Internet and I could tell when it was me because the mics would also lag. It just seems that once I go in a city map my games over I have insane framerate issues :(.
So what I need to ask is, 1. What Internet speed is recommended to play this without frame rate issues or lag? I sadly the highest Internet speed in my area 2. What settings can I do to improve the framerate/lag 3. Any other tips?

Go to ps3 network settings and turn off the media thing, then turn graphic settings to low in dust, delete useless chats, also helps to reinstall the game. You should just reinstall dust immediately since the servers probably wont be working anytime soon. |

A few months ago i changed my speed from 50 mb/s to 100 mb/s and still lag. The difference is very small even when i use a cable or wireless. So it's either the slow network card within the ps3 that cannot handle the faster internet speeds or it's dust 514 that cannot handle them. |

Aside from getting a better internet (which will only help on your end, better internet will not stop server lag or bad framerate)
Actual realistic things you can do -
1. Delete the game and re-download and reinstall dust 514. The client size should be smaller leaving less junk on your hard drive. This will at the very least make the in game menus operate smoother and load a little faster.
2. I personally play with voice chat turned off in the options menu. Not everyone is willing to do this but this is one of the bigger things I have found to improve in game performance.
3. In the options menu set the graphics settings to low. I'm not sure if this actually does anything but in theory it should right.
Now there is one other thing you can do that will VASTLY improve game performance and really boost up the framerates across the board - however it is a big price to pay.....
If you use a HDMI cable to hook your PS3 to your screen, you can go into the playstation settings and force the game to run at around 577p or something like that. (Bare in mind the game usually runs at a resolution of 720p).
This reduced resolution makes the game run actually really smooth, also it makes keyboard and mouse controls feel a lot more responsive (like they should be all the time) - the catch is that the game will look terrible and very pixelated. So much so in fact that I would not advise this. However it does make significant performance improvements.
Its a pity that in 2014, nearly 2015 we are dealing with products that cannot even run at a paltry 30 fps consistently, let alone anything better. (At only 720p!!!)

I have 25 Mbps connection with < 1 ms jitter (Good internet connection).
I have suffered huge lag in this game since day one.
I suffer level 3 lag at a bare minimum (media server disabled, only 3 chat channels, low graphics, america server, all other home computers turned off, ethernet cable to ps3).
I suffer level 4 lag when I use any server but the america server.
I suffer level 6 lag when I activate voice in game.
I suffer level 8 lag when I use my sony ps3 wireless headset in addition to voice.
I feel your pain.

I honestly think it's the HIDEOUSLY outdated NIC (network interface card) in the PS3. I think it's absolutely trash,
remember when routers were G, G+ N? Now you can get 500mbps homeplugs, that's immeasurable compaed to this G, and G+ rubbish.
So what is the PS3's NIC? 2006 that's what it is, when we were using horrible Belkin routers at G speed, the PS3s network card is GARBAGE and OUTDATED.
On a side note it's good to see that my PC from 2011 destroys my PS4...this is going to be a very short console generation, because the consoles were DOA and extremely oudated from the getgo. Then will people keep buying systems? If they see no point, the market crashes, hold onto what you have or it's nothing but flappy bird from here on out.

Unfortunately, the biggest problem with Dust lag is the small player base.
When 32 players in a pub are from 12 different time zones the lag is going to suck no matter what you do on your end.
Whenever I load into a game and see a ton of asian and Latino players on both sides I just leave the match. It is much less annoying leaving than it is emptying an entire clip into a Jap player and he takes zero damage.
The only winner of WWIII will be the cockroaches.
