What is the point of the 'Atlas' Sentinel or the vX.1?
How can it be used effectively?

Yes, but is there a specific technique that makes the STD forge useful?
I'm trying to use it, but I'm not getting any vehicle damage points, nor am I doing much damage.

I love mine! I've never used a forge gun before, so can't say how it compares to others, but it's an awesome suit! I'm not a fan of the ion pistol, but I'd only used that once before (and hated it) but I've gotten a few kills with it :) getting plenty forge gun kills with the suit though. I like taking out snipers and rooftop campers with it :) and vehicles :D |

The standard forge gun is an anti infantry sniper for sure. If you are any good you can use it fairly effectively at AV too. One thing I would suggest when fighting tanks, DO NOT give away your position too early. Wait for the opportune moment to attack.

The forge gun is only anti infantry if the target is standing still and not looking at you.
In a 1v1 gun fight I don't ever remember losing to a FG. A lousy strafer will still beat the FG.
Regardless of what weapon I am using, from a SG, SMG, PLC, CR, MD etc the one rig I salivate at encountering is the forgegunner.
They are always staring downrange standing perfectly still and oblivious to their surroundings.
And if I am seen, I can take my sweet time with a little butt wiggle strafe while they are dispatched in a time and manner of my choosing.
At least that has always been my experience with the FG. Others results may vary.

Not if you want to actually fight vehicles.
the ADV and PRO Assault forge guns are literally the only effective AV heavy weapons in the game

I do.
FG Rocks.
OP, stay on an elevated position, and SHOOT ANYTHING that moves.
It takes a while to get used to it, but you charge the shot and Follow the enemy infantry/vehicle. Calculate the time the enemy takes to move from point A to your fire reticle. And when you think you can connect a direct hit just shoot. XD
Kills Infantry and LAV's.
Kills bad Drop ship pilots.
Scares off good vehicle drivers and ADS pilots or tanks.

As a long time forge gunner the best advice I can give you is to aim for the sweet spot on most vehicles ( the hood on a lav the rear of any tank and the thrusters on a dropship ) and you'll have a lot better luck with it also if your heavily skilled in to the forge gun your bonuses apply and thusly up your dps.

Hitting moving targets with a forge gun requires patience and familiarity with the firing mechanics and how the projectile travels.
Nothing more.
However the closer you are to target the more complex the issue becomes.

I prefer the point blank forge shots, but I also prefer the Assault Forge more than the Standard Forge

Thanks for all of the advice, guys!
Here are my main obstacles.
1. I have decent aim and am able to hit the objects that I intend to damage, however. the amount of damage inflicted by this fitting makes me wonder if this specific fitting has a viable function on the batatlefield.
2. Due to the very little damage inflicted by the 'Atlas' series fittings, I have to stay mobile (LAV) so that I can visit supply depots literally every two minutes.
3. Since the dropsuits BW is zero, I cannot set up shop and then camp out somewhere. The ground speed of the heavy suit, combined with the low damage of the weapon pretty much requires a camping tactic.

THAT made me truly a beast, "oh S*it, a HMG heavy/assault/scout/logi" *BLAP*"
Thing you need to remember, is that even in 2-3M CQC you need to lead...while still being on their body. If you're aiming at the trailing flank of a scout-steak and go to jab at him, you'll miss. Lead the target by blapping him in the leading flank.

Quite often, isn't too hard to miss a fatty when they are blasting the HMG like a mad man.. It slow's them down to a crawl so that connecting a shot on their huge hitbox doesn't take too much effort as long as you have the timing down.
Also, prefer Meleeing the fatties when they hop out... that's even more humilating haha..

You want a hmg. Guess what boy! My apex sentinel has 1030 armor and a HMG. It's a free meat shield. Paired with my bpo lav it's a free murder taxi. Wooooooooooo

That is a nice combo, and I have that. What I'm trying to figure out in this thread is the most effective use of the 'Atlas'.
I have taken the previous advice to blast heavies with the forge, and that is fun, but I haven't found the STD forge to excel at destroying (or even significantly damaging) vehicles.
As stated by an earlier contributor, the STD forge doesn't appear to be a useful AV weapon.
