It's far more useful than other guns, it's extreme bias towards armor makes dealing with armor targets, whom have the highest HP ceiling, a far faster task and when I come across shield tanks they usually can't stack enough shields to make it matter a whole lot. So basically since shields can't reach as high of a ceiling they are still very fallible to the ACR/CR
Has the lowest fitting requirements making it easier to take its DPS further with damage amps, basically less sacrifices to be made.
The sights are crystal clear: I did a comparison test at a supply depot and saw that the ACR has very thin iron sights and very little obstruction as compared to the assault rail rifle which has very thick blocky and obtrusive sights. The Assault rifle has the thinnest sight I believe but there is a lot of obstruction from the weapon itself.
The ACR is amazingly accurate for it's RoF and it has a very tight cone so even at range it's hipfire is pretty fricken accurate.
You will spend 13 seconds reloading a normal ACR if you run from full to dry. 12 seconds if assault rifle. 16 seconds if rail rifle. 15 if SCR, to put things in perspective. - So the CR is beat out by AR in reload time: cool, but let's go further - - - How long does it take to completely empty the AR vs. ACR? ------ ACR/ACR: Reload Time (13s) + Shooting time (20.4s) = 33.4s -------AR: Reload time (12s) + shooting time (26.25) = 38.25s
To sum it up I'd say that things have changes and the combat rifles are far more balanced now but it just has these "field advantages" that are never brought up. The damage of the Combat rifles are relatively low which is great but at the same time it takes out armored targets much faster and shield targets averagely.... if that is a word...while a lot of other rifles deal with shields pretty fast but then are down right arduous when it comes to armor.
So basically, can the rifles, that need it, get minor "field advantage" tweaks such as cleaner sights on the ARR and AR and maybe some consideration towards HP ceilings and damage profiles.
