Quote:So I, like many others, was very shocked at today's keynote. However, I did some thinking..
Since Project Legion is in it's infancy, I propose CCP changes it's vision.
Last year one of the Dev's made an off handed comment about wanting Dust Mercs to be able to board ships, and everything from capture ships to damage modules and shields and armor, they could board POS's and fight literally in space. This is where EvE: Legion should EXIST! EvE: Legion should be the Marines to the Dust 514 Army Ground Pounders.
With EvE's vision of making everything destructible in space, this could be used in High Sec also, and also with the new gate system where players can control gates, EvE: Legion could be used to capture a gate rather than using a Navy. EvE: Legion would have a new utility in New Eden and would bring a new level and type of game play.
I'm not sure about the technical aspect of this all, but it would be better then trying to figure it out for Console users.
You could incorporate this into Planetary Conquest, too. For a long time people have been asking for a multi-stage Planetary conflict for a more immersed feel, just like how you said in the Keynote what you're geared towards.
You could start out with EvE: Legion having to open essentially a Beach Head and Dust 514 Mercs will then come in and fight for the ground. We could also incorporate the same model into FW.
You would never have a cross over of EvE: Legion and Dust 514 Mercs, so there would be no need to figure out how to make Console and PC talk. We already have in place a system that communicates Dust 514 to New Eden. And EvE: Legion would exist in the PC realm already so problem solved.
However, for this to work you would need a solid skill system that flows between both games so players would only have to adapt to one type of skill progression model. I would propose throw out that new one and stick with what we have. Dust has always been marketed as a game that is Play It YOUR Way.
Also bring PvE to Dust 514 like intended and move EvE: Legion into a PvE system where we could rat and go along on missions similar to EvE.
Production could then flow through PC for Dust 514, and on the EvE industry backbone for EvE:Legion.
TL;DR: Make EvE Legion the Marines of Space, with Ship boarding and POS capturing, staging for Dust 514. Make Dust 514 the Army with capturing planets. Use both in FacWar and Planetary Conquest.
I posted this in the backlash of EvE: Legion announcement and thought it maybe a good time to revisit it. Essentially what I'm trying to get noticed here is there is room for both EvE: Legion and Dust 514 to exist in the same universe. We could maintain the integrity of Dust while introducing a new game play, one of which in my opinion would elevates both games. Adding in the idea of a marine, or amphibious type of play, ALONG with EvE: Valkyrie would bring it one step closer to being a true dynamic and fully formed battlefield. Every war fought in modern times employs joint operations. CCP could build this now.
TL;DR: Make EvE Legion the Marines of Space, with Ship boarding and POS capturing, staging for Dust 514. Make Dust 514 the Army with capturing planets. Use both in FacWar and Planetary Conquest |

I don't see Dust 514 and Legion co-existing. Heck, CCP can't even pull-off one of them, and you want two?? LOL. I'm not against the idea, its just that I think its not gonna be good for either one of the games.
Having said that, I would feel the pain of someone who bought a PS3 specifically for Dust if they come out and say this is it. I personally kept my PS3 for over a year, just because of Dust 514, because I was waiting and hoping it will become something.
Then they came up in May and said Legion. So I sold my PS3, and been waiting for the PC Legion to come out. Then they come out and say oh, Dust 514 is now getting a roadmap, and they release 2 updates back to back after having said that Dust 514 doesn't really have updates planned.
I'm just sad, and sick of CCP. At the same time, I'm so desperate for a game that would offer what Dust 514 promised. Because simply there is nothing like that out there.
I hope StarCitizen when it comes out to get me sucked into its First Person Universe, so I don't have to deal with CCP's BS... |

SuperMido, this would be a lesson in counting chickens, to be honest. You sold your PS3 because of something announced without any sort of release date. It's like selling your car because someone told you flying cars would be available at some point. Yeah, CCP's communication has been very hit and miss, but you also jumped the gun.
CPM1 Elect. Thanks for all your support. [email protected] for ideas, thoughts, and feedback.

You may think they didn't 'pull it off' because they haven't deliver everything they promised, but you can't deny Dust is an amazing game. They pushed the envelope.
The only thing I don't have total faith in is the hardware to support the idea of both, not that they can't handle it talent wise I'm curious about the financial aspect. Would it be worth it. Otherwise I feel it could be accomplished by having two separate entities.
Do me a favor though, if you've sold your PS3 and no longer play, please just observe the community, don't comment as you have no idea the state of the game currently. |

I will admit, I did jump the gun, and come to conclusions. But, i had my reasons, the ones who told me something else called Legion would be coming for PC and that Dust won't really be getting much was the DEVS from CCP. NOT some randoms or based on rumors.
We have to agree that CCP is messing up, and have no clue what the hell they're doing. Why that is? Whether is financial, or terrible management, or whatever it is, its NOT right!
And its no big deal at the end of the day, if CCP comes out now and says Dust 514 will be completed as intended on the PS3, I will wait this time around and see, if it happens I will buy another PS3! LOL. |

As someone who have been following up with this game since 2011, and who have put mad hours into, tons of feedback in the past since the closed Alpha, and invested money in supporting the game. I get every right to comment about it, even if I dont play it anymore.
Also, not having the game by no means has anything to do with whether i know its current state or not!! I'm not making a comment saying the scrambler rifle seems overpowered now, I'm saying the game still has not delivered most of what it promised.
I can read patch notes, dev blogs, and watch YouTube videos to get a very good idea about the game's state.
And in terms of lacking, hell yea its lacking, most of what they promised. Can you tell me where are those large 64+ player matches? Where is that Conquest mode? The rest of the vehicle variants? The fighters? Player market? Trading? Manufacturing? Claiming territory for resources? The thousands of combinations of diff terrains with lava and plasma? And I can keep on going and going...
I will agree with you on one thing tho, the hardware they chose initially by no means could support what they had planned.

Wait.. how is ccp messing up? because they are hushed about a game they are working on? You became a shareholder when?
Because they decided to do some patches and fixes for dust to limp it a long for a bit? Why shoot a game hat may be making a little cash in the foot if your replacement is not ready yet.
I admit ccp botched the dust key note VERY badly. And my guess is they were hoping for a valk reaction and did not quite get it. I also think they may have thought legion was further along to competition, then went 'opps' so again, why shoot dust in the foot or kill it if you can still get a few miles or months or years out of it? Makes no logical since from a business standpoint tbh. |

Cool supermido, went back and read your post to 2012, happy to see 90% of what you talk about is saying they promised 20,000-30,000 maps, asking for fighters, and among other things. I now see self-entitlement. Awesome, I'm done with you.
Back to the conversation, anything anyone would like to add to the idea of switching Legion into the world. |
