I'd like to know how the community feels about melee and whether or not it should get a buff. Question is, what do you think is the main problem with melee right now?
Does it have to do with range/reach? Damage? Aim assist?
My personal opinion is that compared to other games, dying in Dust is much more valuable, so giving anyone the ability to kill you in only two hits is rather silly. Even in most situations, melee ends up being pointless just because of the low damage and how hard it is to hit someone in CQC
Other games use heavy aim assist for melee attacks, and outside of CoD, melee is usually a 2-shot kill. Any game from Resistance to Destiny has long-reaching "lunge" animations to give melee attacks more reach and aim assist, but Dust mercs are not very agile, making melee feel boring. However, the Halo games never had any of this, yet melee still feels solid in that game when a covenant is all up in your face.
Should we change the melee animation then? My answer is a big NO. Instead, giving melee a very small range increase (25% or so), along with some form of strong AA would be ideal. Reworking damage values for suits is another topic, so my final proposal would be to increase the effectiveness of melee mods to make a single complex mod worthwhile to fit on a suit.
Overall, this would add another option to counter shotgunners, or a way to increase the effectiveness of a CQC playstyle on other frames besides just light suits. I do not ever see melee becoming OP simply because it already ties to stamina and cannot be spammed unless combined with a stamina mod.

Trivia time!
Did you know that in the closed beta the melee attack was a nova knife? This was removed from the game because the animation had a delay from when you first pressed the button to when your knife would actually swing.
What most players DON'T know is that the reason for the delay was that you could actually "charge" the nova knife by holding the melee button, and it would instantly swipe the second you let go of R3...but since this was never explained in-game, and people were so used to the CoD knife swipe, barely anyone actually figured this out and instead just complained about it being slow and unresponsive.
Also, holding the R3 button is not exactly a fun or easy thing to do, and punching people with your fist as a heavy is much more satisfying.

When you have a ton of complex Kinetic Catalyzers and two or more Myofibril Stimulants you can really do some damage on an Amarr or Minmatar Assault (if you have ever seen me in game you know what I mean ;)).
I once ran into a guy running a plasma cannon on a shield tanked min assault with at least two kin cats. He would jump in the air, PLC, and then dash in a zig zag at you meleeing like crazy all up in your face. I just remember the scoreboard saying he went something like 28/5.
