Specializing in vehicles is expensive. The gains are massive, but instead of using vehicles when I deem the risk/reward ratio is correct, it feels more like a toy I get every 3 games because of the issues with keeping them at the end of a match. Especially with ground vehicles which are harder to be useful staying in the driver seat the whole match.
I know these are early beta times, so freezes and disconnects are bound to be more abundant. However, something needs to be looked into here. Their cost does not seem to indicate they are disposable. For example, just to break even a dropship needs to last 2 rounds. The number one frustration I have choosing to specialize in vehicles is the mechanics for who keeps it at the end of the round.
Issue 1) Disconnects/hard freezes are automatic loss of everything. This makes me extremely reluctant to call in expensive ships for skirmish (where all of my hard freezes have occurred to date). Twice in a row I called in a 100k isk ship and immediately disconnected when entering the cockpit. Not only is it gone, I got no enjoyment out of it. That's rage inducing gameplay right there. Imagine if I had spent Aurum on a ship and I lost it because of a freeze even if I was in no danger?
Solution 1) The ship should be recalled by RDV on a disconnect. If it gets there in time and the RDV successfully extracts it survives. Any dropsuit fittings should also survive on disconnect, maybe a 5 second delay to avoid logoffski exploits.
Issue 2) Vehicle ownership at the end of a match should be absolute. He in the driver seat should keep the spoils. End of story. Especially frustrating was one instance where I died during a push outside of my vehicle and I recovered it 30 seconds later until the end of the match. I was frustrated the ship was lost.
Solution 2a) The driver keeps the spoils. If you don't have the skills for the module you they are offlined (so a tank with high meta shield tank would become crippling helpless). Guns should stay for simplicity. No one should be able to enter the cockpit of a ship they couldn't drive anyway. This is exactly how EVE boarding in space works and should be carried over.
Solution 2b) Unoccupied vehicles should go to the victor team (no matter who hacked it last). For now they go to concord so no change, but eventually corps are going to have joint assets and intact vehicles would be the first things scooped up from the battlefield. For the beta, it might be best just to give them back to who deployed. |

Not a bad idea, I like the sending it to corps. In the absence of corps it needs to go to whoever last had ownership of the vehicle. |

Does anyone see any potential issues with an emergency RDV recall on disconnect? There should at least be some chance of recovery from dumb bad luck. Any other suggestions? |

I must chuckle a bit when I see I wrote 100k ships were expensive. |

We deffinitly need some way to recover vehicles right now. I've been part of teams where we have 6 HAVs, and i wasn't able to get out and help take points because if i did i wasn't sure if my 200 000 isk tank would be there, or if it would just get flushed down the toilet. |

agreed, I hate losing my tank because of disconnect or team mates stealing them. would be nice if vehicle had an Id lock. |

4-5/10 matches freeze the PS3
Terrain vehicles acceleration needs to be mapped to R2 and brake to L2 and looking left/right with the analog should be free , i mean if i let go the analog the camera should NOT go back to its original position straight forward .
Just when you enter the room with objective B ( hacking the terminal) , there are those stairs on both sides that takes you up to the terminal , well everytime i go up those stairs the game lags bad , in DM mode it doesnt lag. |

Still trying to push this solution to reverse deploy vehicles. Any more ideas, questions, concerns? |
