No other suit will do more damage output then that and if some 1 trys to creep up onto you you can at least switch to a other light weapon and defend yourself. You would be surprised how good you could actually snipe in a Cal Assault and how much that reload skill helps . I used both and yes the Cal Commando is the best but the Cal assault is a darn near close second . That suit is a beast and is better then given credit for . pfft I can one shot head shot most non heavies with my covenant assault armed with a covenant sniper rifle 0 skills invested in sniping too. You can snipe with anything as long as it's armed with some sort of sniper rifle and you have a good controller. Sensitivity settings in this game are pretty borked, I have to turn it all the way down and I'm using a brand new sony ds3. third party controllers? Forget about it, no way can you snipe with that. I suspect a lot of players have trouble aiming in this game because of the poor sensitivity options. I have that same fit and do the same thing so I know what your talking about but that Cal assault is a beast . I think I still have those suits if I haven't sold them yet from being broke . I had 200 and 100 shock assaults .
It has serious diminishing returns though, If I remember correctly if you stack more than 3 damage mods the stacking penalty is so high that you're better off just leaving the slots empty or adding rechargers/extenders. That's why I'm not a fan of proto sniping fits unless you're running a fat suit with a thales.
3 complex damage mods from what I remember adds like 18% damage and a 4th adds like 20% and a 5th like 21%.
I generally never stack more than 2 damage mods. |

Scouts will always be the best at active sniping.
Cannot be detected easily, and the TacSR complements their stealthy, alpha-damage role. Their physical appearance is also less conspicuous.

Reason i like is is cus the tactical sniper rifle has little ammo in clips Caldari commando has both reload speed and damage bonus, and all commandos have an equipment slot so its basically a straight upgrade |

Calmando is the best suit for sniping as it's bonus gives extra dammage for sniper and rail rifles . Also it's got a semi decent tank that will be of use when your being counter sniped.

Use a Cal scout suit seriously.
1. Lower profile- also add in 1 dampener to make it harder for sniper hunters. 2. Good scan radius- Id recommend adding a range extender as well. 3. Cloak- combined with profile and scan radius, this combo allows you to slip away quite easily undetected. 4. Speed- Has enough speed as is to traverse the map quickly from spot to spot easily. Also great for a fast get away.
General sniping tips:
A. stay on the ground. Do not use uplinks on high ground, or use a dropship to get to them. If you want to do this use a Sent or commando suit. If you use the commando, keep a swarm launcher as your back up to keep dropships off of you.
B. if you take too many shots and the player is looking your direction before you kill them, assume they will respawn and proceed to hunt you down. This means you wilol have to move locations ASAP.
C. Try not to shoot protostompers that are in the open near you unless you plan on moving after. These are players from bigger corporations and run proto suits only. They have money and will throw it away on dropships, or even waste a Thale to take you out.
D. Do not stay scoped in the whole time. Look around the terrain to check for snipers and counter-snipers.
E. If you hear a vehicle called in, look to see what it is,especially if you are doing decent. If it is an enemy dropship, change locations now! They are hunting for you!
F. Nanohives will blind you! If enemies are around them, shoot the nanohives first.
G. Do not sit on your nanohive. Also try to put them into locations that cannot be spotted by counter-snipers easily.
H. If you kill me I will know exactly where your at, and your possible escape routes. You done goofed.
As for sniping locations, you will just have to experiment with each map to find spots. Be aware that each battle can be fought dramatically different on each map and socket. As a sniper you will have to adjust to were the bulk of the fighting is going on. You generally want to be shooting at the bigger concentrations of players, as they will be preoccupied by your friendly forces and will be less likely to hunt you down.
Lastly, an overwhelmingly amount of the maps and sockets are problematic for sniping. Many even pointless and glitchy. Even at 150m or less, sniping into big complexes will not render players and buildings correctly. You will see honly the torso of players floating through the air, and things like doorways and open vents will appear to be shut as if by magic. A player just inside a door will not turn your sights red, so if they are sniping at you, you will never know from were. Another point about complexes there is little to no high ground around them, and yet that have huge walls. Even if you get to a decent spot to see into one of these complexes, the fight will have to be in your very small window that you can see into them. This will lead you to having little to no kills.
When I look down my scope, all I see are dead people.

Stay hidden, stay safe.
But pretend you're sitting on your hives. Placing hives in obvious sniping positions (that you are not occupying), such that the glow effect extends just beyond edge of cover is a nice way to distract counter snipers. I'll often top off my ammo before leaving a position and then leave the nearly depleted hive behind as a decoy. |

If you're serious about Sniping don't ever invest into the Caldari Commando. The moment anyone decides do start looking for you you'll be spotted as you don't have the db to hide from Scanners (both Active & Passive). You're also slow to the point where an area can get cleared out before you arrive at a vantage point, and you won't have the layout diversity to do other things (like hack empty objectives). I disagree. Use a tac sr and rr and you become a high damage long range specialist. Your mentality with this suit should be rr first, tac sr second. It actually might be my favorite fit out of my 6 proto suits.
