But i agree, pub payout sucks especially if you do well, but not super.

Time in match+Isk destoyed+wp= X amount of the winnings.
Something like that. Looks like the guys you faced were rubbish so it was a quick match and they did so bad that they must be newbs so there's not anything special they had that you destroyed and to top it off you came second so what little winnings there was, was stolen by first place.

I wish I'd had the fore-though to cap my scores.
19/1 vs a squad if 1.UP (love that corp name) and destroyed roughly 7 tanks in the match. I was finally gunned down by a manned Railgun Installation after infantry were too incompetent to take those strategic positions....... losing my 700,000 ISK tank......
Was paid out 257,000 ISK....... not even enough to cover my turret costs.

I've been playing all day long, and at the end of every single Domination I finished (with 2000 to 5000WP all the time) I noticed that the payout was really low.
Particularly in 1 battle where I did 25-5, 3kWP, 1st of the winning team after a really close battle and I only got 250k ISK. 2nd and 3rd were my corpmates with resp. 2500 and 1900WP.
Maybe CCP reduced the payout even tho it needed a HUGE buff...
Assault, Logi, Scout, Heavy.. What do you need?

a) the fact the payout is low for pub matches
or
b) that players insist on spending more isk on a fight than the fight is worth
i would go with B). everyone knows the payout margins of public matches. if you go outside these margins then you are screwing yourself over not the game screwing you over.

I'm only really sad because it was one of the most enjoyable tank matches I've been in recently.
I was the only tank on our side and I protected my infantry from being overrun by those proto dude and the other tanks they called in.

Ok, size this one up.. This time I came third, arguably did a lot less due to being teams up with a squad of Prima. Top player 'still' doubled my WP. Yet I came out of it with 249K ISK!

This game in particular has alot of players that have been around for a while. They where probably running nice **** all match or the first couple rounds.
The other match is full of randoms and 6 month max players..
It's all about the ISK destroyed.. Where you place in the match is some made up bullshit that has never been confirmed or denied.
But through experience? We have had people 5-6 on the KB that get near the same payouts as the people 1-2... maybe with a 20-50k difference. |

It's not about where you place, it's a product of your WP versus the total of the team compounded against the total amount of ISK destroyed. This is then added to a base pay that is simply based on duration inside the game. This is why AFKers still get a payout.
What this ultimately means is that payouts are largely based on what the enemy happens to be running. You are then given a dividend of the total amount of that is destroyed plus whatever base payout. I've had 1m+ ISK payouts in games where I got 3000+ WP and the next highest was a few hundred in a game with the enemy running proto dropsuits and tanks. If I got that same 3000 WP and everyone below me got in the 1000-2000 range and the enemy was running MLT dropsuits that payout would be a fraction of that.
I remember reading a blue post way back in the day that discussed it. I may be wrong on some parts, but from my experiences in the past year or two this has held true.

I have noticed that coming in late neuters your ISK earned and SP earned. Come into a Skirmish 1 minute late, have it last another 14 minutes, pull good numbers, and you will see about 1/3 less than what you would expect despite only having missed next to nothing. That is from my experience at least. I just leave any match that is already in progress unless it is still 150/150 because of this. Have done so since about 3 months into playing.
Did y'all come in late in those games?

Profit is deliberately hard in pubs for the sake of trying to reduce pub stompers w/ superior kit.
I think that any time you pull a vehicle out, it should mod your payout to accommodate.
Of course, you could run cheaper tanks, but that's not a spectular solution.

You have to remember that the value of what you destroy is taken into account. It's possible that the corp you faced off against may have changed there minds and decided to fight on the cheap today or on that particular match. I usually run on the cheap unless there is a certain Daily Mission I want to complete.

I know I could certainly. But there is no mode that I can readily engage in that accommodates the use of a well fit HAV or ADS.
In Public matches I am more than willing to forgo tanking entirely and roll Infantry when I need to gather ISK...... even if I were to fit our a Sica.......my fit would likely still cost more than a standard matches pay out. Which is fine with me........ but I do need some way to garner ISK and frankly PC is never going to be an option for me.

This man gets it. I've accumulated more wealth than many PC regulars because ISK efficiency is a real consideration when designing my standard pub fittings. Even when I have super crappy matches and make less than 100k, I still make a profit. Admittedly, it does happen occasionally that pilots get a bit shafted due to the lack of variety in vehicles/vehicle play and the inherent difficulties in balancing infantry and vehicles within the match types we have, but that is a somewhat different, if related (and very real, don't get me wrong!), issue and, ultimately, the adage still holds: don't run what you can't afford to lose.

I know what your saying. But honestly there was probably more proto in the first match than the second.
You know the map socket with the underground supply depot round the corner from the objective. It was that map, and people were throwing loads of proto at it on both sides. Only a few clones were left at the end.

if you play Publics with Prototype, is your problem.
The payment is right, Protostomping must be stopped or play the price for play with advantage.

Lol at calling a tank prototype as well as at thinking low payouts will stop protostomping; it sure as hell hasn't stopped it or even reduced it yet, half a year after the ISK mint was shut down (iirc it has been 6 months already, right?).

This is the way I understand payouts (keep in mind I don't have exact numbers.)
At the end of the match, ALL isk destroyed is tallied. Also, salvagable items are gathered up. Each team then gets a portion of those totals based on winning or losing, say 60/40 (60% going to winning team.)
At that point it is divided up again amongst you and your team mates based on your own actions. Time spent in battle, warpoints accumulated, ect. I also think that coming first place gives you a bonus percentage, but im not 100% sure.
I only play dust514ums now. It was always more fun than the actual game anyways.
