Hi, I am not a logi Prior to this update I was that guy who used a lp Logi in the beginning of a match I would put 4 ups and maybe 2 nanos down in hopefully good useful places
I would the switch to my assault or Scout and would adjust accordingly to what I was up against
Before this update I thought to myself that I better spec into the logi role because of this playstyle
To gain the sp I need I have put needles, ups, and rep tools on my assault scouts
Now I just realized it would be a waste to go into that role.
I can do everything I want with my scout. Up, rep, revive, scan
My assault is limited because of the one slot
But going logi seems (to me) like a waste of time and time is everything in this game
Why would I want to deploy more equipment but be stuck in one suit for the whole game?
At the end of the day yes BW reduces equipment spam
But does it also nerf and limit logi players?
I ask this because the idea of BW was to make logi's more important than before
It seems the exact opposite is true

DDx77 wrote:Hi, I am not a logi I think you should have ended with that. I, as a logi, do not often switch suits when I play seriously. If I do, it means that being a logi isn't helping. Usually it's in a stomp where the other team pretty much has run of the map. Otherwise, I'm trying to keep up with objectives and team members. As such, bandwidth has yet to be an issue. I can't drop a ton of uplinks or hives because I'm not carrying a ton of uplinks and hives. At best I've got either uplinks or hives, because the rest of my slots are being used for repair tool and injector (Amarrian, by the way). Uplinks I save for securing a spawn on an objective should it be hacked and hives for firing lines where resupply is key. Plenty of bandwidth for that. |

If you think you are "stuck" as a logi, like its a chore or something, just dont play it.
Go ahead and have fun with a logi scout or whatever.
If you really think scout is just as good as logi with equipment you wont miss it at all, Im sure. |

Those advocating for Bandwidth as a solution to spam, and claiming to be in-the-know with CPMs and Developers, argued that Bandwidth would be good for Logi's because it would go hand-in-hand with a total Logi class overhaul and review that would make them the equipment champs. The changes would happen near-simultaneously, and that would make it just dandy.
I'm sure they are right, and I expect to see the Logi class overhaul soon(TM).
But in all honesty, my predominant play style (squad-based repping and support) has not changed much as a result. Since there are fewer folks pre-deploying uplinks and nano's, and flux OBs firing like crazy in some matches, I am making more risky solo jaunts to supply depots, but otherwise not much different after just a few days of play.
Overall, I AM seeing more red-lining or surrounding because I see fewer uplinks spread around the map. I've seen more assaults and scouts carrying needles. Haven't seen more folks carrying rep tools.
FPS = First Person Support. Kills win battles but it's kinda hard to kill if you're dead and out of ammo.

The two things I think are missing from the bandwidth changes: 1. At one point I read something that made it sound like equipment you can carry would have more of each slot. For example, instead of 3 uplinks as now, uplinks would have more (~10 or whatever) per equipment slot. This means you would not have to keep revisiting supply depots all the time to refresh the currently very limited number of equipment we get and would not feel super dependent on supply depots (or dying) to get new equipment as the situation changes. As it is now I still feel like I need to have my uplink spam suit initially, even if I do switch out to a more general purpose logi after finishing uplink deployment.
2. I think bandwidth should be the same at all levels of each suit (std/adv/proto logis should all have the same bandwidth, and also same for scouts, assault, etc across all tiers of those suits too) |

I am a full time login and completely unaffected by bandwidth as my fit falls well below my suits bandwidth restrictions. If I changed suits on the other hand I would be marginally affected due to my playstyle which does not include spam of any kind. I use what is needed at the time.
It has never been a better time to be a full time logistics. You are always in need and don't have to worry about someone else taking your job.

I was not a fan of BW because I thought there were cleaner ways to eliminate or reduce spam, particularly from role-switchers. Although I was not concerned that it would harm true Logis, I also didn't think it would help them. Good Logis would still place good equipment in good places. I think in general, BW has been Logi-neutral.
What I believe has hurt Logis like me is cheap flux orbitals. I have seen a few more redline and surround battles perhaps because the good scattering of uplinks around the map seems to be depleted more quickly. A squad-based Logi is less likely to keep spare links in stock, and therefore more likely to feel they are letting the team down by not making suicide runs to the supply depot. OR to feel like they are letting their SQUAD down by leaving them to do so. In several matches, I have felt something I never thought I would feel before...a desire to spawn back in as a speed scout with links in order to sprint to the other side of the battlefield and deploy links. Shiver.
This hasn't been a huge thing, and maybe more dedicated Logi's will evolve to fill the void, but at the moment, I think that flux OB has had an impact on Logi's far more than BW.

I only play dust514ums now. It was always more fun than the actual game anyways.
