I've recently returned to Dust, having an 11 month hiatus. I've 8m SP focused on shields and RR.
I bought some AUR and am using the Rasetsu Assault BPO for battles at the present time, and am improving, but I'm looking at trying other fits as well.
I'm looking at the Commando and Sentinel Apex BPOs. Commando makes sense with my RR SP, but there's been times tanks and dropships have had my life, which makes me consider the forgehun on the Sentinel.
Any advice for a relative noob?
Also on a separate note - headsets worth it for voice comms? |

If cash is at a premium, get a headset ahead of a bpo. Apex are ok, & a nice status symbol if you "earn" one in fac war lp, but imho not worth real life money. If vehicles are a problem, maybe make a swarm fitting on that assault. And re your edit, I think Dust has a bit of life in it yet. Yeah, definitely get the headset. |

EDIT: Even worth it with conversion to Project Legion on the horizon. I'm on PS3.
Forge guns are probably the best (infantry) anti-vehicle option in the game. It's always handy to have an AV fit you can switch to when needed. |

Cheers guys. Tried a few throwaway builds last night, and turns out I dont particularly like the cumbersome heavy weapons. The forgegun is scary, but tough to use effectively.
Tried logistics too - that was more fun than either of the heavy builds!
Think I'll leave the apex suits for now, use the Rasetsu for grinding isk/LP, and to pay for fun in other suits. |

Forge Guns take practice to be able to use effectively, same goes with Plasma Cannons. If you want an easier but still effective AV fit, try and Commando with Swarms and a ranged Light weapon. Failing that, an Assault with Swarms, AV Grenades, Nanohives and a ranged sidearm works well too.

Yeah headsets are handy, as for the apex meh personally I wouldn't even bother with one.
also yeah work on your forge skills, I rarely use it but still one of my fave weapons. Nothing as invigorating as blasting a running DS outta the sky right before he gets out of range.

Clearly, you like caldari stuff. Try using a Gal scout or Min logi or something, those have some unique playstyles, with the SG scout and Reppy Logi

I would skip the APEX suits as real world money is not worth an unmodify-able suit. If you really want it, grind out the LP versions. Factional games are at an all time high with several channels to join up in squad.
