I actually have to agree with this as a combat sniper. I don't do it a lot, but the Magsec's range is quite handy. Picks people off before they get to you.

The sound of magsec + the sound of head shot.. Priceless.. Blueprint style.. No shame, ain't no thang to put a magsec shot right through yo brain. This is why it in theory should be better than a regular SMG for CQC engagements. Its why the RR outperformed the CR previously. Dead accurate but high kick. Exactly ... Or are you being a smart ass? I can't tell :/ I'm having a serious discussion here. Yet, no-one seems to use the magsec, why? - Is everyone in this game just bandwagoning? - Aim assist not working good with the magsec? 99% of the players use it.
I dont use it because it makes a poor sidearm.
Compared to the SMG or flaylock it takes a longer time to pull out and begin firing due to the charge up.
When you do begin to fire the gun hops all over the place and begins to lose accuracy very quick. In comparison the SMG can fire half its clip before it starts to lose it, and you can just stop firing and begin firing very quickly to regain accuracy (again a big difference because of the charge mechanic on the magsec).
In addition if you are playing peekaboo with someone around cover at close ranges the magsec is a big liability compared to running an SMG/Flaylock/Scrambler pistol/etc.
tldr; its got the worst traits of the rail rifle and assault rail rifle without a range advantage to balance it out. |

Without meaning to sound arrogant or the like, you probably haven't run upto me whilst I've been holding a Sniper. I'd magsec you to hell or at least try to! |

The Magsec on my Caldari alt is actually pretty good without skills it's **** but that's about any weapon.
CCP holds the Caldari's hand so this doesn't happen again.

I really tried to love this gun, but it underperforms compared to the smg. It is not a precise weapon, even with skills invested. You can do good work with it, but not as consistant as the smg (personally, i prefer the breach smg).
I think either a reduction to kick or reduction to spool time in the form of variant models would be great.
Have you considered a career in costumed aggression?
