And I'd disagree even for the STD BPO version having a similar name and keeping the "idea" of the gun (unlimited beam with LR, .1 charge delay with RR, better heating mechanic with ScR, etc.) They are what makes the weapons so great, even with less damages/bullets they'll still be better than any proto version! It won't be Op cus we are like 12, let me ask u something... When was the last time u saw me...? It's not about me, these 12 people will have a huge advantage over all others constantly and for free. That's OP. CCP Rattati kinda comfirmed it x)
I already have advantage over all others constantly and for free(or so it seems). BPO's would not change much.

^^ Note that this is copy right notice on my idea and if it is used I'll be rewarded with a Jules's 12\19 Rail Riffle with the same Special flag. U see, u liked to see this kind of really creative ideas, maybe I was just to high, lol You know, We can take the idea one step further.. If you spawn in with that special weapon BPO and get killed 1,000,000 ISK is sent from your account to the person that killed you. That way, when you active your show off BPO it adds another layers of depth RISK / REWARD.
I'm down for that.
